And so began Echo and the Bunnymen’s stellar set on the Outdoor Theatre at Coachella on Friday night—with winks and jabs, easing the crowd before unleashing a torrent of dark, synth-hewn and apocalyptic post-punk upon their audience in the form of twisting atmospherics (“The Cutter”) and lovely dark-pop anthems (“Lips Like Sugar”).

Those who point to Jackson’s youth as their favorite era of the pop star’s musical output will be delighted to know that a collection of unreleased and remixed songs by The Jackson Five will be included on a new, 12-track compilation, called I Want You Back! Unreleased Masters, set for release on November 12.

Echo and the Bunnymen‘s “fifth” band member was killed in a motorbike crash when he collided with an ambulance while riding alongside Kirk Michael on Tuesday.
As an associated member of the band in the 80′s and a full time member 1989, Brockman was a resident of Bristol. When he joined the band as the keyboardist, Echo and the Bunnymen’s first drummer, Pete de Freitas, died in a similar way. According to BBC News, the former band member was “was always a classic bike enthusiast…”

What do you do when you are about to reissue an album from 25 years ago and you need good publicity? You get NASA to help! That’s exactly what English, post-rock band, Echo and the Bunnymen did. With their classic album 1984 Ocean Rain set to be released on May 30th as a box set, Echo and the Bunnymen could use any promotional help they can get. After hearing astronaut, Colonel Timothy L. Korpa, is a big Echo and the Bunnymen’s fan, there was only one thing to do: have the band send a copy of their album with Colonel Korpa to outer space.
With this act, they are not only making a die-hard fan very happy but they are getting publicity that is out of this world (thank you, I’ll be here all night!). Not only did Colonel Korpa suggest taking the album with him on his next trip to outer space, but he was also quoted saying, “he would snap photos in space with the album and crew of the ISS (International Space Station) and give the album back to the band as a souvenir when he returns to Earth.” Artists dream of that kind of publicity.
