Bonnaroo 2010: The Dead Weather

The Dead Weather 4 Bonnaroo 2010: The Dead Weather

When rumors of Jack White’s new band, The Dead Weather started circulating over a year ago, it was referred to as a ‘side-project’ of his. Referring to The Dead Weather as simply a side project of Jack White is like saying Them Crooked Vultures is a Dave Grohl side-project. The Dead Weather are their own beast, their own band. They’re the band that Jack White would have started if he hadn’t fallen into the musical niche that was The White Stripes. Alison Mosshart deserves just as much credit, if not more, for the whirlwind that is a Dead Weather show. Continue Reading

Having gone from hosting “the greatest franchise in television history” to moving to a TBS George Lopez pre-show to touring the United States in a big bus, Conan O’Brien’s odyssey of the past several months probably isn’t the career arc he had been shooting for when he first dreamt of making it in show business (although, in terms of his fans, the bearded Coco can probably do no wrong at this point); that said, O’Brien made another move backwards in time yesterday as he led a rockabilly band through a burning set of – you guessed it – rockabilly at a live concert at Jack White’s Third Man Records in Nashville, Tennessee, according to USA Today.

Citizens of Nashville, Tennessee are still suffering from a massive flood which occurred last weekend. As a major music city, there are also currently many musicians who are currently suffering from the damage the water has done to their instruments and and gear. It’s surprising to finally hear the media talking about this natural disaster since the nation has done everything we could for Haiti’s earthquake. However, people are finally giving what they can to those in need.

Jack White To Focus on The White Stripes Again Jack White To Focus On The White Stripes Again

There’s good news for those who miss the originally Detroit-based rock duo, The White Stripes. After all his outings with The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, Jack White has finally realized that he’s missed being in a band with his ex-wife, Meg White. Meg, whose anxiety caused the band to cancel a few shows back in 2007, is now said to be much better so the band can take off again.

It’s been chronicled time again just what a busy cat Jack White is; the guy is a music-makin’ machine. So it shouldn’t be any great surprise to hear that White made a little room on his to-do list recently to produce the solo debut of his wife, British supermodel Karen Elson. The production took place at, surprise, White’s Third Man Studios in Nashville.

Elson’s The Ghost Who Walks, which features 11 original tunes, each written by Elson, is due this summer from, surprise again, Third Man Records/XL Recordings..

Check below to watch the video for an acoustic version of “The Ghost Who Walks.”

Oscar Song Nominations: Karen O, Jack White, Lykke Li...

The Oscars just released a statement revealing which songs are nominated for the golden statue. As usual, the list is very lengthy in correlation to the many films released this year. What we find pleasing about this year’s list is the amount of indie artists who are nominated.

We all knew Karen O got her Grammy nod for her work on Where the Wild Things Are when Miley Cyrus got booted, but the Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ front lady has also been nominated for an Oscar. Other notable mentions include Jack White‘s “Fly Farm Blues” from It Might Get Loud, Lykke Li‘s “Possibility” from New Moon, and Jarvis Cocker‘s “Petey’s Song” from Fantastic Mr. Fox. Check the entire list out below!
