We’ll never know what might have happened – or more specifically what music we might have heard – had The Beatles not disbanded. And for that great rock n’ roll mystery we can thank John Lennon. In a conversation with radio host Geoff Lloyd on Absolute Radio this week, Paul McCartney revealed that it was Lennon who demanded that The Beatles end for good.
The Beatles eventually called it a career in 1970 following the recording of Let It Be. The famous foursome played their final concert on the rooftop of the Apple Records headquarters in London on Jan. 30, 1969.

Thirty years ago today, John Lennon was shot to death in New York City by Mark David Chapman. As a member of the most influential musical group of all time, Lennon touched more lives than can ever be measured in record sales. They were commercially successful, sure, but making money was never the goal. Listen to those songs now and even the most cynical among us must admit that they sound like the work of artists striving to do the best thing anyone can ever do: Spread love and positivity through the world.

A set of John Lennon’s fingerprints have been seized by the FBI from a New York City memorabilia dealer.

FBI officials said they believed the card was government property and would be investigating how it ended up in private hands.

The name Mark David Chapman is one of the most hated in the world of music (and in general). In the early eighties he robbed us of one quarter of The Beatles when he murdered John Lennon in front of his apartment. The deranged fan was arrested, convicted, and sentenced to 20 years to life in prison. Three decades after his crime, he continues to go up for parole and for the sixth time, he’s been denied.
