Ok, so information on the new Christopher Nolan film, Inception (his first post-Dark Knight film, by the way—i.e.: everyone’s going to go see it), is pretty scarce beyond that fact that it appears as if Leonardo DiCaprio’s going to do his “I’m squinting real hard because I’m so intense” thing, that the film revolves around “stealing” information from dreams, and that ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has teamed with composer Hans Zimmer to record the film’s score. I’ll say that again: the guitarist from the Smiths recorded the soundtrack with the composer of The Dark Knight and Gladiator (and Cool Runnings, but hey—they can’t all be winners). Translation: Badass.

Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr is composing the original score for The Big Bang, a neo-noir detective story starring Antonio Banderas, Delroy Lindo, Sam Elliott, William Fichtner and Snoop Dogg. That’s right, Snoop D-O-double G.
Marr’s score is reportedly in the same vein as Jonny Greenwood’s (Radiohead) musical score for There Will Be Blood and Eddie Vedder’s Into the Wild.

In case you didn’t already know Neil Finn is collaborating with bands such as Radiohead, Wilco and Johnny Marr for a benefit LP titled 7 Worlds Collide: The Sun Came Out. The record isn’t out until August 31 in the UK, but currently you can listen to some minute-long snippets from it at the album’s Myspace page.

After a successful run over the past few years with his old band Crowded House, Neil Finn is ready to tackle a new solo album. It will be the follow-up to the 2001 live album 7 Worlds Collide which featured a number of Finn’s famous friends including Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien and Phil Selway, The Smiths/Modest Mouse/The Cribs guitarist Johnny Marr and multi-instrumentalist Lisa Germano. All of these friends will rejoin Finn on his new studio project.
But that’s not all folks. A bunch of new friends will be on the album as well including Wilco members Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone, Neil’s son Liam Finn and New Zealand musicians Don McGlashan and Bic Runga.
