Feist Documentary PC 10 07 10 Feist Documentary Schedules Limited Run

With Broken Social Scene touring non-stop in 2010 and BSS satellite groups Stars and Metric also staying in the public eye, one often wondered what happened to Feist? By far the biggest breakthrough personality to emerge out of the collective, thanks to a catchy song and catchier iPod commercial, Leslie Feist followed chance commercial success all the way to the Grammys. And though we will have to wait a little longer for her follow-up to The Reminder, the singer has announced a limited screening run for a documentary about the making of her 2007 breakthrough, currently penciled in at seven cities over the next month.

Lollapalooza 2010 Photo Gallery: Day 2

Metric CP 8 7 2010a Lollapalooza 2010 Photo Gallery: Day 2

Lollapalooza‘s first day may have had Lady Gaga, but day 2 was jam packed with artists whether you were a huge electronica head, an indie rocker or Bayside ska kid. We knew we definitely had our day cut out for us but with Grant Park’s massive size for a festival, we must have walked miles as we rushed to see band after band.

Some big names that got us warmed up for the night’s headliners included Stars, Metric, Grizzly Bear, AFI, Spoon and more. We were able to support our Los Angeles bands such as Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Soft Pack (San Diego’s close enough), Dawes and more as well. However, the night ended with fireworks during Green Day, Phoenix and Empire of the Sun. Take a look at our day in photos below!

Eclipse Im All Yours Metric Music Video Eclipse (All Yours): Metric Music Video

Happy Eclipse day, you Twi-hards! In celebration of all your mass gatherings at every other movie theater for the worldwide release of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse today, we are happy to bring you a new music video for one of the songs off of the soundtrack. We can say with confidence that the soundtrack will definitely trump the film itself, however…. it’s not about us today. It’s about you girls (and boys) who identify with Bella Swan’s teen angst and emotional roller coaster of love between a werewolf and a vampire. It’s about all you people who are putting money into the pockets of musicians like Metric!

Beck, Broken Social Scene Compose Tracks For Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Soundtrack

Beck Broken Social Scene Compose Tracks For Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Soundtrack Beck, Broken Social Scene Compose Tracks For Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Soundtrack

Michael Cera + music = Beck, Broken Social Scene and Metric? Apparently, that’s the equation for Cera’s latest film, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Yes, we have yet another movie where Michael Cera is playing one of the geeky, self-conscious guys trying to get the girl. From the trailers we’ve seen, the twist is supposedly the fact that the chick he has to fight all seven of her “evil” exes to rightfully claim her… or something like that. (This sounds like a combination of Kick Ass and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.)

However, the real “twist” or selling point for us is who’s on the soundtrack. Indie rockers Beck, Broken Social Scene and Metric contribute new or unreleased material for the film alongside some classic tunes from The Rolling Stones and T. Rex. Check the details out below!

Twilight Webcast Featuring Performances By Metric and Cee Lo Twilight Webcast To Feature Performances By Metric and Cee Lo Tonight

If you like the Metric, Cee-Lo or Eastern Conference Champions, you’re in luck tonight. If you’re also a Twlight fan, you’re really lucky tonight. In support of the upcoming third installment of the Twilight saga, Eclipse, there will be a webcast streaming performances from the previously mentioned artists. You have to admit that Twilight continues to shed its ridiculous teen-crazy reputation bit by bit (very small bits) by putting out some decent soundtracks. We know we enjoy the soundtracks much more than we could enjoy the movies now that the music has veered toward the indie music scene.

The Twilight Saga Eclipse Soundtrack Features Metric Bat For Lashes Vampire Weekend And More The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Soundtrack Features Metric, Bat For Lashes, Vampire Weekend And More

Late last night we shared the news with you in regards to the upcoming soundtrack for Eclipse, the third installment of the Twilight series. Although a couple of movie stars may be holding production back by demanding a pay raise, Alexandra Patsavas and her people at Chop Shop Records and Atlantic Records are ready to share the music with you. Exciting, right? Even if you’re not a Twilight fan, you have to admit the last soundtrack was pretty rad with their choice to go for a “softer” indie touch.

The con to this soundtrack track list? We’re going to have to wait all day to have the final list of songs and artists much like we had to wait all day for the Bonnaroo lineup…  The track list will reveal itself here but we’ve got the first batch of artists who are on the Eclipse soundtrack below! We’ll be updating it here on the site until we have them all! Check it out so far after the jump!

Metric, Codeine Velvet Club, Nico Vega at The Palladium: Concert Review and Photos

Metric CP 3 24 2010e Metric, Codeine Velvet Club, Nico Vega at The Palladium: Concert Review and Photos

Sometimes you just cant get enough of a band and BeatCrave is the same way. After checking out Metric‘s tour stop in Washington we were back on the scene in Los Angeles at the Palladium to catch the Canadian indie group along with Codeine Velvet Club and local favorites Nico Vega.

Nico Vega opened up the show just minutes after 8pm. Singer Aja Volkman came onto the stage like a prize fighter, throwing fists to the audience and pumping up her home crowd. A home crowd that would still be trickling in through their early set. The band hit the crowd with low-fi guitars that would transform into noisy bursts of destruction.

Review/Photos: Metric with Nico Vega and Codeine Velvet Club

Ross James Metric 14 Review/Photos: Metric with Nico Vega and Codeine Velvet Club

The anticipating crowd did not quite know what they were getting themselves into as they wrapped around the Showbox Sodo. This Seattle venue is a bit lackadaisical in its interior design, and has the look of a never fully metamorphosed warehouse. Despite its cold cement floors and rudimentary square shape it continues to sell out shows and cram in the masses. It is no surprise that the gist of the crowd filing through the doors is college aged cutesy kids who look prepared for serious dancing (and perhaps a few spandex clad overzealous fanatics who came prepared for who knows what).
