Another year – another season, mind – another music festival. When it gets old, you’ll be the first to know.

It’s hard to believe that the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival is only three years young, but maybe that’s why it’s looking so good. The official lineup was announced today and things are ready and rearing to go this August 12-14. Stadium heavyweights Muse and Phish leading the pack with two sets, and such movers-and-shakers from Arcade Fire, MGMT, The Black Keys, The Decemberists and Erykah Badu, to our favorites Foster the People and oft-on-our-radar Grouplove and The Vaccines,  will take on the various stages at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA.

Muse 1 Muse Wants To Play The First Concert In Space

Fans of subtlety, don’t go looking for in-flight entertainment the next time you book a flight to Mars (of course, you probably would be flying to a place a little more low-key anyway, like Decatur, Illinois or something).  According to Spinner, Muse is looking to speak with Richard Branson “a proposed deal” to be the in-flight performers for Virgin Galactic, Branson’s planned company to offer sub-orbital spaceflights to the paying public.  Which is great, because the first live performance of human art in space, which will announce to the stars our ability to express the human experience through aesthetically pleasing forms that shall linger into immortality, should be by a band that makes Queen seem too nuanced and cerebral.

Here’s a few of our favorites…

muse La 9 27 10 Muse Could Be the Biggest Band in the World!

Don’t be shocked when you hear that Muse could (should) be the world’s biggest band. They’re awesome. Today, Yahoo reminds us that the band has been opening for U2 over the past year, and given their tour hiatus, might just take over their position as the headliners. But here’s the thing — Muse and U2, totally different. Yes, both appeal to the masses but the times are changing. Bono just doesn’t do it for me anymore.

Well, brace yourselves for the inevitable, music fans – the juggernaut known as Muse, when not busy inspiring an insipid series of poorly-written and waterlogged novels that then go on to be adapted into an even more insipid series of films constructed solely to capitalize on teenage girls’ hormonal  instability and ability to spend money, is planning to reenter the studio and record a new album featuring even more of the emotional and sonic depth, subtlety and nuance we’ve all come to know and love them for.
