She already rocked the world in No Doubt and baffled the world when she gave us the words “Hollaback Girl,” but Gwen Stefani hasn’t been content to be another 90s relic trying in vain to hold on to a music career. She’s made an impression on the world of fashion as well, all while raising her song Kingston with husband Gavin Rossdale of Bush.
And now according to a report from Yahoo!, little Kingston made a brief attempt to get in on the family business.

As everyone knows the fashion capital of the United States just had their Fall fashion extravaganza this past week. Celebrities, musicians and fans of style all celebrated with NYC shows which revealed the hottest new clothing, accessories and more but what some people may forget is how much music is connected to the week-long event. To help promote designers and brands, tons of artists also perform as part of these events. So, it doesn’t surprise us to discover Gwen Stefani was there simultaneously talking her clothing line (L.A.M.B.) up while talking about new music from No Doubt up. She revealed a few details in a quick interview. More details after the jump!

Activision‘s new game, Band Hero, has really riled up a few artists and it is thanks to the new “Character Manipulation Feature.” Not too long ago, No Doubt filed a lawsuit against Activision claiming they misused their likeness. Now, Activision has filed a countersuit claiming No Doubt breached their contract as the band failed to promote the game through interviews and “video ‘shout-outs,’” and that the band was “unjustly enriched.”

Looks like No Doubt is joining Courtney Love in the pursuit of suing Activision.
Like Love and the remaining Nirvana members, the band originally from San Diego gave Activision permission to use their avatars in the the game, Band Hero (which is a variation of Guitar Hero) but they did also did not sign up for the No Doubt avatars to sing other bands’ songs.
We thought it was disturbing to see Kurt Cobain rap like Flava Flav or belt out Bon Jovi tunes, but to see No Doubt’s leading lady, Gwen Stefani, sing Rolling Stones‘ “Honky Tonk Women” is beyond comprehensible.

Whenever I buy a new CD, I feel so powerful because [it] belongs to me. Trust me when I tell you that even when you buy downloads on Amazon, or iTunes, the feeling is not the same because you don’t have the packaging of the music you bought. Although downloading is very convenient, there is no feeling like tearing apart that CD wrapper and looking through the art in the booklet. So dear readers here is another cheap DVDs series to keep you happy and save you time because we know you’re busy.
Take a look at our great finds …

Group members of No Doubt, have come a long way since they formed the band back in 1986 in Anaheim, CA. No Doubt started as a ska-punk band that went through all sorts of ups and downs, from suicide, (original lead vocalist John Spence), to heartbreak (bass guitarist Tony Kanal broke up with lead singer Gwen Stefani) and managed to stay together and stay sane in a music world where bands break up faster than they can finish a full length album. One of the keys to No Doubt’s success and the reason they have been able to make it through all these years is the fact that they are friends as well as bandmates.
Recently in an interview with CNN they stated:

You’ve heard the line “you can’t squeeze blood from a turnip”. It’s an old phrase that means that you can’t get from someone what they aren’t willing to give. The phrase has been thrown around a lot recently when talking about the American consumer. Apparently we aren’t spending money anymore but instead keeping it between our mattress and planning our move out of the Dust Bowl (metaphorically speaking of course, I’m sure Oklahoma has more to offer right now then California… like a state budget and such).
Without piling more metaphors onto each other, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present myself as Mr. Turnip and on Friday, even though I’m out of a job and money is kinda tight, I found myself purchasing pricey No Doubt tickets through the Live Nation website. Even if he is watching his money, apparently you can squeeze blood from a turnip if the turnip is willing to overlook such things as service charges and a slightly inflated ticket fee.

In the process of noticing all the high profile punk / rock reunions, it’s sometimes easy to forget who the true pioneers are. Blink-182 was fun, and No Doubt were killer, but to remain completely relevant you have to stay true to not only yourself, but your aging fan base. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to handle any more songs about heart break from Tom Delong or a reggae-themed tune from Gwen any time soon.
With that said, enter Millencolin, who played at the delightful El Rey Theatre to approximately 800 kids last Friday in Hollywood, CA. Kids would be an understatement, as most of the people who showed up have long grown up – much like myself! It doesn’t seem like it’s been this long, but the Swedish lads in Millencolin have been making punk music for the last 16 years. 16 YEARS! I was probably 14 when I first gave them a listen, and have passionately been following them ever since.

So even with the economy in shambles and Americans cutting back on such non-necessities as vacation’s and Jonas Brothers’ movie tickets, you’d be surprised to learn that this might be the biggest summer of concert touring we’ve seen in quiet a while. U2, Coldplay, Green Day, Blink 182, No Doubt, The Killers, and The Who all are launching headlining treks, while package tours like Warped Tour and the Mayhem Festival are back to fight for your hard earned cash. With so many big, meaty tours hitting stadiums, amphitheaters and other Live Nation venues (sigh), music lovers are going to have to make a lot of tough choices when it comes to which shows to see and skip. This weekend is no different so on the way to the breadline, check out these shows going on sale throughout the country.
