Taylor Swift may have skyrocketed to stardom, but at least she’s grounded enough to know that she has the people who raised her to thank for the massive success she’s experienced over the last couple of years. According to Yahoo!, the country pop star recently dug into her ever-expanding bank account and bought her parents a house in Nashville for the hefty sum of $1.4 million.

See parents, you gotta teach your kids a talent when they are young.

Reba McEntire jco 4 5 11 e1302024795787 ***UPDATE***Reba McEntire Jokes About Taylor Swift, but Does She Have a Point?

While Taylor Swift may be winning the hearts of all the American girls who used to insist that they’d listen to “any kind of music except country,” music icon and occasional failedsitcom star (well, in our opinion, the show was at least an “artistic failure”) Reba McEntire is jokingly calling out the rising star for writing so many songs about ex-boyfriends. Taylor Swift may be a talented country-pop musician, but we were all fairly sure that rap wasn’t her thing. Well, Swift surprised us–don’t worry, she’s not doing a “hey, we’re tottally friends now” collaboration with Kanye–by putting her own personal twist on some Nicki Minaj rhymes during a radio interview.

Last night was the annual People’s Choice Awards, one of the few awards shows that decides who brings home a trophy by asking the general public to vote. (And by “general public,” we mean teenage girls. How else do you explain Grown Ups winning Best Comedy?)

According to MTV, it was a good show this year, with plenty of big names in the pop music world accepting awards and performing for the audience.

For most of us, Thanksgiving entertainment comes in the form of football games and drunk relatives, but if neither of those choices are your thing, a couple of the country’s hottest pop stars will be providing less violent alternatives.

Taylor Swift Sells More Than 1 Million Copies Of Speak Now In First Week Taylor Swift Sells More Than 1 Million Copies Of Speak Now In First Week

Taylor Swift fans must be the most loyal fans ever. That or the on-going battle with herself in regards to forgiving Kanye West, Joe Jonas, or John Mayer has sparked people’s interest enough to check her new album, Speak Now, out. Now, you already know what our stance is on the country pop singer-songwriter. We understand that there are artists like her who are taking every single feeling out of the diary and pairing it with a cute melody 14 year olds can identify with. Although we can’t say we’re the biggest fans of Ms. I’m-so-innocent-Swift, at least she’s writing her own songs. We can’t really say that for pop divas such as Britney Spears and Rihanna.

However, what we can make note of is how big of a deal her sales are this week. It’s up to you to decide whether her album is worth purchasing or even listening to, but selling a million copies since the release on October 25th is something to think about.
