White Stripes fans take note: outtakes from the duo’s first ever-recording session are about to be released. Optional versions from Jack and Meg White’s 1998 seven-inch single “Let’s Shake Hands” and its B-side, “Look Me Over Closely,” will be available via The Vault, the online service of Jack White’s label Third Man. Registration for this release is open until October 22, at Thirdmanrecords.com/vault.
Jack White has recently directed the latest music video for The Dead Weather’s new single “I Cut Like a Buffalo.” The video mixes vivid colors and black and white footage throughout the piece and was shot in Nashville at the headquarters of The White Stripes frontman’s label, Third Man.

The highly anticipated movie, Where The Wild Things Are, doesn’t come out until October 16th, but we DO get to hear the soundtrack a little bit earlier than the film’s release. We also just got word that the firstsingle from the compilation is Karen O‘s “All Is Love.” (Take a look at the artwork above!) The track is available starting August 25th. That’s soon!
Today is an especially good day for fans of Karen O, Dave Eggers, and Spike Jonze. Read all about it after the jump!
The new band with Jack White and The Kills‘ singer, Allison Mosshart, named The Dead Weather have announced a full North American Tour. The band sprung into existence during the Raconteurs/Kills tour. After White injured himself on tour, Mosshart lent a hand with the singing duties during the Raconteurs’ sets. The Raconteurs and Mosshart began collaborating on songs, and The Dead Weather was born.
The first show is technically in June, but the real touring doesn’t begin until July. The Dead Weather is set to play at a few festivals over the summer, playing at the San Diego Street Scene, Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival, and Austin City Limits Festival.
White keeps a tremendous pace as he maintains his three bands simultaneously. And although fans might clamor for a new White Stripes album, the new project produced by White results in a superb collaboration between the various members of the band.
The Raconteurs have just released their brand new video from Consolers of the Lonely. It’s for the folky, Band-inspired track “Old Enough.”
The video is one of the best looking videos I have seen in a while. The cinematography truly top notch and I think we have famed photographer and filmmaker Autumn de Wilde to thank for that. She directed the video.
