We know we’ve deprived you from our BeatCrave Favs for a little bit, but we’re happy to say the series is back in full effect! So without further ado… We’ve picked out favorite artists of the week. Now it’s your turn to pick yours!
Is your favorite Those Darlins, the trio who makes country sound more like punk (listen here)? Is it the incredible banjo master and soulful Bluegrass crooner, Olentangy John (listen here)? Is it Blair who reminds us of Liz Phair’s greater days (listen here)? Or do you enjoy local experimental rockers, Vanaprasta (listen here)?
The number one voted artist will be eligible for our BeatCrave Fav of the Month poll! So support your favorite band and vote for them in our BeatCrave Fav Poll!

We have five reasons for you to get out off the couch this weekend for reasons other than spontaneously yelling “TOUCHDOWN!” or running to the kitchen for chips and beer. Check out our concert picks below:
- Those Darlins | Friday, February 5 | 8:00 pm | 18+ | $13 | Bowery Ballroom, New York, NY – Map | Country rock never sounded so edgy, so sixties, so fresh. No doubt about it, our recent BeatCrave Fav was chosen for a reason. These girls are seriously fabulous. Biased? Never! With The So So Glos and Pine Hill Haints - Buy Tickets
- Helen Stellar | Friday, February 5 | 8:30 pm | 21+ | $5 | Spaceland, Los Angeles, CA – Map | Rock isn’t dead, neither is band ideology. Hidden, yes, albeit slightly by the influx of robot-like stylings and everyone else who “wants to be a star”. Helen Stellar has been around for a while, so its members know what we’re referring to. It’s refreshing to hear that they’ve kept their heads about them, for the benefit of our ears and minds. With Shiloe, Wet & Reckless and Dirt Bird – Buy Tickets

Forget Taylor Swift and her cute glittery dresses! Here comes the Tennessee trio, Those Darlins. This all-female band makes country music sound like the bee’s knees and they don’t need a major label to do it. This is country with a rock edge that you don’t hear every day. Those Darlins recently added a drummer boy to the band, and all in all, he’s a great asset because he keeps that rock n’ roll edge crispy. This country/rock band also does a great job in creating songs that stay true to country music, like singing about home and whatnot. They also write about booze and boys; it can’t get any better than that.
Last summer, Those Darlins debuted their self-titled album, and are currently touring the U.S. Word on the street is that they play a kick-ass show. Check out this amazing country band in our BeatCrave Fav series below and prepare to fall in love with a little bit of country music.

UPDATE: See end of story.
Montreal, Canada-based band The King Khan & BBQ Show, known to fuse doo-wop and punk together and put on some of the craziest rock shows out there with their eccentric vibes are some what a mystery to us in terms of location right now.
They are currently on tour with punk-country group, Those Darlins, but they seemed to be a no-show for their set at Off Broadway in St. Louis Thursday night. Foreshadowing factors (or lack thereof) included not making soundcheck and lack of communication beforehand.
