Yeah Yeah Yeahs Replace Beastie Boys At Lollapalooza

Now that Pitchfork 2009 has happened, music goers are looking forward to the next big one: Lollpalooza. Much excitement was was generated from the fact that Beastie Boys were scheduled to perform as co-headliners. However, as we unfortunately reported yesterday, all Beastie Boys dates are canceled so Yauch can get his  rest. Work on the album has been postponed and these canceled dates include major festivals.

However, no worries, music goers. According to Time-Out Chicago,  Lollapalooza was quick to replace their slot with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs who are no strangers to large festivals. Just check out our pictures from Coachella and see how great they were at that one!

What do you think of this? Are the Yeah Yeah Yeahs perfect as a replacement? Do you wish they picked another band instead? Let us know and check out some their music videos below!

animalcollective09 6 12 Bonnaroo Day 2

On the second day (June 12) of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, the rain cleared up, but the brutal sun and humidity took its place as the elements of torture.

However, that didn’t stop me from braving the Which Stage for the majority of the day to catch some electrifying sets from Gomez, Animal Collective (photos above) and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Check out the photos for Gomez and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs after the cut!

Poll: Which SNL Musical Guest Is Your Favorite So Far?

Poll: Which SNL Musical Guest Is Your Favorite So Far?

SNL’s been having a great season with musical guests. The show generally features big name – no talent artists (ahem… Ashley Simpson), but this season’s booking agent for musical acts has been kicking it into overdrive. They’ve still had big names such as Lil Wayne (we all know what we think about him), The Jonas Brothers (and them), Beyonce, and Kanye, but they have also submerged themselves into the ocean of great indie artists out there. So far, they’ve been able to knock it up a few notches with performances by Fleet Foxes, TV on the Radio, and the latest – Phoenix. This Saturday (April 11th), indie music lovers who just happen to be staying in will catch the Yeah Yeah Yeahs performing. Too bad they couldn’t find a better host than Zac Efron, so we’ll just take him for what he is: Eye candy. Hopefully, the good streak continues and the guy or gal who’s booking the artists will get a raise. Which musical guest are you most happy with so far? Vote and then check out Jorma (of Lonely Island) dancing to Fleet Foxes, Fred Armisen talking with TV on the Radio, and Phoenix’s performance from Saturday night after the jump!

The newest film from Spike Jonze, an adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s children’s book Where the Wild Things Are, will feature Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Arcade Fire on its soundtrack. The story is about a boy who creates a forest inhabited by many large imaginary monsters, which is to be the background for compositions from Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Arcade Fire’s track Wake Up.

Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox also worked on the score with Karen O, who mentioned “bizarre instruments” in the composition. Jonze co-wrote the screenplay with author Dave Eggers  and the cast include Forest Whitaker, Paul Dano, Catherine Keener and James Gandolfini.
