It’s that time again. It’s time for us to pick our favorite music video of the week! A lot of new material was released over the past few days but we had to narrow it down to one. We based our decision on creativity, music, and most importantly why you won’t see it on MTV…but should!
And the pick of the week is…

Any band that incites the name of a brutish Greek demigod is certainly a band I know I’m going to love. Any band that sounds a whole lot like a cross breed of Studio 57 noise and 90′s gay club music (I mean that as a compliment, I swear) is a band I know I’m going to love forever! Hercules and the Love Affair is the fantastic collaborative musical project of Andy Butler and Kim Ann Foxman who called upon the fabulous vibrato-induced voice of Antony Hegarty to do vocals on some of their most notable tracks.
Their self-titled album, released in 2008, was well received world-wide and we at BeatCrave are proud to include them in the ever exclusive, BeatCrave Fav Series. Take a moment and get to know Hercules and the Love Affair… we at BeatCrave know you’ll dance your way into their fan base in no time!

We brought you a very unique live performance of Beyonce‘s “Crazy in Love” by Antony and the Johnsons, but now we’ve got an official video for you!
We here at BeatCrave love covers, but only covers that are done right. Antony and the Johnsons’ rendition of the hit song couldn’t be a better example of an admirable cover. The video for it also couldn’t be more different from the original, but we like it. To match their haunting yet gorgeous cover, the video features Antony in close-ups of his face looking into the distance within a cloud of mystery along with what appears to look like VHS distortion at the bottom.
Watch it below and let us know what you think!

Antony & the Johnsons couldn’t be more different from the pop star, Beyoncé, but they do have one thing in common. They will now be the two artists who will have released the song, ‘Crazy in Love,” only with a dramatic change in performance and reinterpretation.
Mercury prize-winning UK act, Antony & the Johnsons, are known for their folk chamber and almost cabaret style infused with pop melodies. So if you think it’s odd of them to tackle a Beyoncé song, you’ll learn soon enough that re-invention is what the group does best. The tempo is slowed down and the accompaniment is replaced with the gorgeous sound of a full orchestra, but what is most grasping about their performance with Netherlands’ Metropole Orchestra is the way the lyrics, “Got me hoping you’ll save me right now” are sung.
Astonishingly amazing! Check it out below and let us know what you think!

If you haven’t snagged your ticket for San Francisco’s 17th Annual Noise Pop Festival Feb. 24 – March 1, do so before January 12th, or you are going to regret it. If you wait too much longer, you’ll miss the early bird price of $150 which is a fantastic deal. You know that you’ll end up going, your inevitable growing desire to attend possibly one of the greatest (legal) music and arts festivals of recent times will win over. So get a good deal while you still can!
Long story short: This kind of festival separates the true music fans from the apathetic posers. If you really love music, find a way, any way (within modest boundaries) to get there. It’s gonna be awesome. Although the full line up has not been announced, here are my top five picks to look out for: Continue Reading
