There’s been a flurry of Arcade Fire news over the past 24 hours – not only were two new tunes released yesterday (the swaggering sting of “The Suburbs” and the jaunty “Month of May”), but today the band’s highly anticipated third album was given a name, an album cover, and a release date.

Arcade Fire and their team have come up with some clever ideas on how to create the buzz around them since it’s been three years since the release of Neon Bible. Last week, they sent a postcard to the internet sharing the news of a single coming our way pretty soon. Does soon mean June 1?

Nothing is set in stone yet even though Amazon listed the 12″ on their site (but then removed it.) Here’s what is  definite though: “The Suburbs” is indeed the first single off of the upcoming album and it’ll be released as a 12″ with “Month of May” as its B-side.

If there is one thing the internet is good for, it’s ceaseless, rampant, and unfounded speculation about the upcoming activities of our favorite musicians, actors, directors, etc.  And so today is no different, giving the skinny-jeans set of internet hounds reason to, if not celebrate, than to at least ratchet up their anticipation to dizzying levels: Pitchfork noted that a banner recently appeared on Arcade Fire’s website reading “Arcade Fire presents ‘The Suburbs’.”

Little Scream isn’t the name of an album. It’s actually the moniker which singer, Laurel Sprengelmeyer, performs under and right now she’s a very lucky girl. If you haven’t heard of Sprenglemyer, you might want double check. Those lovely vocals in the background The National‘s “Bloodbuzz Ohio” must have been heard by almost every music fanatic since High Violet is currently streaming courtesy of the NY Times.

Well, it’s finally here: Chicago festival Lollapalooza has announced it’s 2010 lineup.  And, as far as surprises go, they are few and far between —the long rumored Axis of Evil garnered the headlining slots with Lady Gaga, Green Day, and Soundgarden (hey, I loved ‘em back in the day just like everyone else, but come on—you hear the last Chris Cornell record?), while the sub-headliners are far more exciting.  Quite honestly, I’d rather see Arcade Fire, The Strokes, and Phoenix (bold choice for Lolla) occupying the top slots with the Axis taking up the undercard, but what can you do.

Other artists appearing in Chicago’s Grant Park over the August 6-8 weekend are…
