Although the rain was drizzling outside making it a peculiar Friday night, the start to a rainy weekend wasn’t affecting fans of Avi Buffalo as they packed themselves in to the Echoplex for the band’s last show of 2010. The last time we had seen the band they were just celebrating the release of their now highly-acclaimed debut album at The Troubadour. This time around there were a few major changes on stage – some which were very entertaining and some which were downright puzzling.
The night kicked off with opening acts and friends, The Wildbunch and local buzz band Lord Huron. However, Avi and his band were ready to hurl some new knowledge at us after a long, grueling but successful tour.

The beginning of May started off with a glorious bang as we attended Avi Buffalo‘s record release show for their self-titled album via Sup Pop. As avid followers of this young band, we were excited to see how they would bode in the infamous Troubadour.
It turns out they inducted themselves into the long standing legacy which the venue holds quite well. The Wailing Wall from New York and VOICEsVOICEs of Los Angles provided support at the celebration this Saturday. Check our review and photos out below!

Avi Buffalo have just released the official video for their most well-known song, “What’s In It For,” and we love everything about it. It may also have something to do with the fact that we’ve been following these kids for a long time and we’re excited to see that they’re moving on up. After an incredible record release show at the Troubadour on Saturday night (review and photo gallery coming soon!), it only makes sense for Avi and the gang to become legit in terms of visual aspects.

Avi Buffalo has pretty much been a band on the rise since they’ve first formed in Long Beach. The rise hasn’t just been steady or gradual either. As one of our Bands To Look Out For In 2010, we were completely correct in our hunch that this young band would accelerate faster than imaginable. Hype can be a scary thing for bands in the world of music bloggers talking you up or down because the buzz can die as quickly as it starts. However, with a brand new album released via Sub Pop and a record release show at Los Angeles’ famous Troubadour this weekend, Avi Buffalo has nothing to frown about now or in the near future.

San Diego-based The Soft Pack, who will be playing Coachella 2010, are releasing their latest self-titled album tomorrow and to celebrate they played a whopping ten shows all over Los Angeles on Saturday. We got caught up with them at the FMLY mansion in Venice where Sub Pop darlings and Long Beach natives, Avi Buffalo, played beforehand.
The setting outside was a perfect atmosphere filled with fans of all ages. We managed to get some great photos around 1:30 in the afternoon. Check them out below!

One of our favorite Long Beach darlings, Avi Buffalo, is now one of the big kids. Earlier today, Sub Pop Records inducted the four-piece band into their family and we can’t commend the label enough for believing in a band we’ve previously highlighted in both our Know Your LA Bands and BeatCrave Fav series.
Singer-songwriter and guitarist, Avi Zahner-Isenberg and his band-mates Sheridan Riley (drums), Arin Fazio (bass) and Rebecca Coleman (keyboards and vocals) have only officially been around since 2007, but they’ve toured immensely with past dates including FYF Fest, Monolith Festival, and had a residency at The Echo in Los Angeles.
