Avi Buffalo: BeatCrave Fav

 Avi Buffalo: BeatCrave Fav

Avi Buffalo is the latest answer to glittering runoff from generic music processing plants. The Long Beach, CA-based band gives off good vibes and music; keeping it natural via folk stylings a la Simon & Garfunkel is their M.O. Having established enough of a fan base by way of live performances and individual tracks, it seems that a full-length album isn’t necessary just now. Okay, we take it back; we totally want a full-length album, please. In the meantime, we’re thankful for nearly every major search engine exit ramp that allows free streaming.

Avi Buffalo sounds great in the studio and during live performances;  it is of personal opinion, however, that onstage is where they shine the brightest. Should you catch them during their upcoming Northwest tour or if you’ve caught them in the spotlight already, do your part: Spread the word and vote for Avi Buffalo in Friday’s poll after checking them out in our BeatCrave Fav series below!

Concert Picks: Avi Buffalo, Flaming Tire, Casiokids...

This weekend’s picks are by no means new to their specific genre, but by bringing a modern twist to a typical tried-and-true format is always fun. They stand out with their approach towards fresh and exciting, and that’s why we’ve selected them for your listening pleasure. Check them out below:

  • Avi Buffalo | Friday, August 7 | 5:00 pm | $10-$15 | Atop the National City Tower Lofts, Los Angeles, CA -  Map | The uber-talented beyond their years band from Long Beach, Calif., continues to play anything other than “their scene” in the most positive sense by joining Jon Hans, Just Off Turner, and Sam Stewart as part of the Plays Well With Others Rooftop Sunset Series. Their acoustic performances will be in support of the Falling Whistles, Global Fast, and Generosity Water non-profit organizations.  Click here for more information; to learn more about Avi Buffalo, check them out in our Know Your LA Bands series.
  • Flaming Fire | Friday, August 7 |  6:30 pm | $10 | Highline Ballroom, New York, NY – Map | The 180-degree turn singer-songwriter Patrick Hambrecht’s son-of-a-preacher-man background is partly what makes this band so cool. Deep-seated change will do that to a person. The gothic, psychedelic, etc., group ill also be playing with Foot Patrol, Crime Scene, and Four-Legged Baby. Click here for tickets.

Pablove Foundation Benefit Show Tonight In LA

Pablove Foundation Benefit Show Tonight In LA

If you live in the Los Angeles area, BeatCrave strongly encourages you to go to The Pablove Foundation Benefit show at The Echo tonight.

For those of us who follow our local music community on the Eastside of Los Angeles, we were very sad to hear that Pablo Thrailkill Castelaz – the six year-old son of Dangerbird co-founder Jeff Castelaz – had passed away this past Monday. Pablo was diagnosed with bilateral wilms tumor, a very rare form of pediatric cancer. With the help of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, a place that treats everyone regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay, Castelaz and his family were moved to start a charity foundation that is now called The Pablove Foundation. This foundation directly supports the pediatric community in and around the CHLA.

Tonight, Avi Buffalo along with Eulogies, Bad Veins, and A Decent Animal is putting on a benefit show. All proceeds will go directly to the foundation and CHLA. Avi Buffalo was recently featured in our Know Your LA Bands series, and we can’t commend them enough for supporting a great cause. See more info for tonight below. If you aren’t from the area, you can still help out by donating here.

Avi Buffalo Interview: Know Your LA Bands

BeatCrave is excited to bring you band, Avi Buffalo, as part of our Know Your LA Bands series. If you’re in the Long Beach or LA area and HAVEN’T heard of these guys yet then you may, in fact, be living under a rock. The band that consists of members who have just graduated high school (one still having one more year to go!) are taking over the areas with their non-pretentious hooks and trouble-free lyrics. It’s always hard to believe that such a great band could be so young (or make you feel old) and have such talent as this. Tunes like “What’s In It For” may have a Shins vibe, but these kids are completely original in their compositions and their outlook on making music. Let’s face it; when a band has a song titled, “Summer Cum,” and you actually want to listen to it for the songwriting instead of the clever name – your ears have found something!
