Maybe you’ve been wondering what Beck has been up to these days – aside from occasionally linking up with his musician buddies to cover an entire album in a day.
Beck has put on his producer hat for a new solo album by Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore. The long-time friends recorded the album at Beck’s southern California home studio; Titled Benediction, the album is due in 2011.

Fans of comic books, indie rock, and Michael Cera playing the same stilted, quietly intelligent and awkward role over and over again, brace yourselves – the quite solid soundtrack and score to Edgar Wright’s film adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World comic series (in which the titular hero/ bass player must do battle with his new girlfriend’s seven exes) are streaming in their entirety at Spinner.

After having recently entered into a recording studio with Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, the recently hyper-collaborative Beck might be ready to release a follow-up to 2008’s Modern Guilt. Maybe. And it may be a record that’s two years old. And only available on his website. Maybe.

Michael Cera + music = Beck, Broken Social Scene and Metric? Apparently, that’s the equation for Cera’s latest film, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Yes, we have yet another movie where Michael Cera is playing one of the geeky, self-conscious guys trying to get the girl. From the trailers we’ve seen, the twist is supposedly the fact that the chick he has to fight all seven of her “evil” exes to rightfully claim her… or something like that. (This sounds like a combination of Kick Ass and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.)
However, the real “twist” or selling point for us is who’s on the soundtrack. Indie rockers Beck, Broken Social Scene and Metric contribute new or unreleased material for the film alongside some classic tunes from The Rolling Stones and T. Rex. Check the details out below!

Time for our pick of our favorite music video of the week! There are a lot of music videos that come out each week so it’s a good thing we’re here to judge! This week’s pick was chosen for the following…
- Chance of Dancing Alone in Your Room: 5/10 (maybe in that hippie dance kind of way…)
- Replay it more than once: 7/10
- Pass on to your friends: 9/10
And the pick of the week is…

Late last night we shared the news with you in regards to the upcoming soundtrack for Eclipse, the third installment of the Twilight series. Although a couple of movie stars may be holding production back by demanding a pay raise, Alexandra Patsavas and her people at Chop Shop Records and Atlantic Records are ready to share the music with you. Exciting, right? Even if you’re not a Twilight fan, you have to admit the last soundtrack was pretty rad with their choice to go for a “softer” indie touch.
The con to this soundtrack track list? We’re going to have to wait all day to have the final list of songs and artists much like we had to wait all day for the Bonnaroo lineup… The track list will reveal itself here but we’ve got the first batch of artists who are on the Eclipse soundtrack below! We’ll be updating it here on the site until we have them all! Check it out so far after the jump!

Classic indie rock fans, hold thy collective breath—Stephen Malkmus (with his solo backing band, The Jicks) entered a recording studio with Beck earlier this year to record new music, according to Pitchfork. Let me run that by you again: Stephen Malkmus, Beck, recording together. Two artists who produced some of the best genre-bending rock of the 1990’s, working together. This is almost as mind-shattering for me as Journey and Steve Perry reuniting (don’t you say a word about this—you know it would be amazing).
