Just in case you’re not satisfied with using such tepid, saccharine and wholly unoriginal rip-offs such as Owl City’s cringe-inducing “Fireflies” to fill in for the lack of new Postal Service music, all hope may not yet be lost. According to Jimmy Tamborello, one half of the electonica pop duo Postal Service (the other half being Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard), the long-in-hiatus band may release a follow-up to their wildly popular 2003 album, Give Up. But then again, maybe not.

Talk about getting thrown a musical guest curveball. Actress and singer-songwriter Zooey Deschanel sang “God Bless America” during the 7th inning of Game 3 of the National League Championship Series played between the San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday night at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California.
Not to be outdone, Deschanel’s husband, Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the game.
Check out both performances below!

Owl City has extremely blown up within the last few months and we say – good for him. Although, a lot of music fiends can’t seem to help but notice that his style sounds VERY similar to The Postal Service‘s signature sound.
Right down to the electronic beats, the dreamy lyrics, and most of all – the vocals. There is no doubt that Adam Young completely echoes Ben Gibbard when he sings and it’s begun to rub many people the wrong way.

It’s officially happened. The cutest indie couple in existence has gotten married! When the engagement alone had fans in tears, hipster hearts shattered this weekend.
Actress (and She & Him‘s) Zooey Deschanel and Death Cab For Cutie‘s (and Postal Service‘s) Ben Gibbard tied the knot this past Saturday in Seattle, according to MTV. We haven’t found any cool photos of Zooey doing any cute choreographed dance moves or M. Ward and Ben drunkenly singing along to their favorite wedding song. However, we still have hope.

“Grapevine Fires” was initially inspired by Death Cab for Cutie‘s Ben Gibbard’s up-close-and-personal encounter with 2007′s California wildfires. The song – which was recently included on “CHANGE IS NOW: RESTORING AMERICA’S PROMISE,” the official commemorative CD-DVD set celebrating President Barack Obama’s historic inauguration – motivated Director Walter Robot to create an animated short film which brilliantly relays the sense of devastating tragedy and forced optimism caused by the fire’s wrath.
“I have been an admirer of the beautiful art of Walter Robot from afar for a while,” says Death Cab bassist Nick Harmer. “Working with them on this video is an amazing dream come true and I am in awe of the stunning video they have made for us.”
“We’re huge Death Cab fans,” says Walter Robot. “We had also heard from other directors how great all the Death Cab guys are and how really open they are to the creative process, which they were. They were extremely supportive and sincere.”
Enough with the praise! Check out the video below…

Prepare those wedding gifts now…Zooey Deschanel (of She & Him) is officially engaged to Ben Gibbard (frontman for Death Cab for Cutie & The Postal Service). Gibbard reportedly popped the question right before the holidays and amazingly enough got a yes from Deschanel.
Deschanel is currently starring in the movie “Yes, Man” opposite Jim Carrey. Her band She & Him also released their first record “Volume One” in March.
Congrats guys from all of us at BeatCrave- and Ben, she’s A LOT more attractive than you. Good job.

Ben Gibbard says we probably won’t be seeing another Postal Service album…at least any time soon. In an interview with Rolling Stone’s Rock & Roll Daily Gibbard said “It’s the record that never seems to want to come out. It’s also just never been a priority…There never really was a plan to do a second album.”
The Postal Service is a side project (a very popular one we might add) of Gibbard (who’s the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie) and Jimmy Tamborello.
All this talk of the Postal Service got you itching to hear some tracks? Scratch that itch with a few videos after the break:
