Poor Justin Bieber has been having something of a rough patch these days. Despite his rabid and fervent army of Beliebers, he’s been getting into more and more skirmishes with the paparazzi, and is-get this, you guys—coming off just a little bit like a spoiled, out of touch, and entitled rich kid. And it seems that the rest of America is more or less getting sick of him, according to a recent music-related survey from Public Policy Polling, who also testing Americans about their feelings on Lady Gaga, Chris Brown, Taylor Swift and more.

The Great Gatsby is considered by many to the Great American Novel. Telling as it does the rise and fall of a group of lives in the roaring 1920s, one might expect some period appropriate music in the upcoming film adaptation. But, of course, this being a Baz Luhrmann adaptation, the film will be scored with new rap, rock, and pop songs. Because when you think of F. Finally our long nightmare is over—after freaking out an entire nation by lip-synching the National Anthem at President Obama’s inaugural ceremony, Beyonce hit the stage at Sunday night’s Super Bowl halftime show with a live performance of her biggest hits. If you can recall, on January 21, during the ceremony celebrating the inauguration of Barack Obama for his second term as the President of the United States, it somehow became a news item that Beyonce had lip synched her performance of the Star-Spangled Banner (because, you know, Obama being reelected wasn’t news or anything). And so, and panicked and trembling nation had to know: will Beyonce lip synch at this year’s Super Bowl as well? Will she once again betray us all?

Yesterday, America didn’t have to watch Mitt Romney get inaugurated. Anyone who’s anyone in politics gathered in Washington D.C. to see President Barack Obama swear an oath to preserve, protect and defend our rights. Jeez, some people just have nothing but bad luck. Case in point: notorious hard-luck cases Jay-Z and Beyonce, who have had nothing but bad lately (having their first child, hobnobbing with the President of the United States, Beyonce was selected to perform during next year’s Super Bowl halftime show), had another in their long line of bad days recently: the poor couple failed to have the name of their daughter, Blue Ivy, trademarked so that they monetize and capitalize on the life of their only child. What a drag, right?

At least it’s not an over the hill rock act hired solely because they won’t offend anyone, right?
That’s what we were thinking, anyway, when it was announced today that Beyoncé would be the halftime show performer for Super Bowl XLVII on February 3, 2013 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, located in New Orleans. The news initially leaked via an anonymous person in the know; later, Beyoncé’s official site released a picture of the singer in eye black with the Super Bowl date printed on her face.
