With Bono on the mend, the U2 360° Tour dates in the US, which were postponed due to the singer’s emergency back surgery, have all been rescheduled for Spring/Summer 2011. They should call the new shows Return of the Claw, a nod to the obscenely massive stage design accompanying U2 on their trek around the world on the 360° Tour.
The North American tour begins May 21 next year at Invesco Field in Denver and ends on July 23 in Minneapolis. The 2010 European tour, which has not been affected, begins as scheduled on August 6th in Turin.

Who would have thought that one bad back would throw everything askew? Bono’s back is causing some major trouble for the super-sexy NYC band Interpol. Due to Bono’s back surgery last week — you don’t think it gets any easier to carry the weight of the world and that ego once you’re over the hill, do you? — U2 has been forced to postpone or cancel several upcoming gigs, including a headlining slot in England’s Glastonbury festival. Glastonbury’s response? Replace one increasingly cartoonish band with a literal cartoon band: Gorillaz.

Because of Bono’s recent emergency surgery, following a back injury, U2 have been forced to cancel their Glastonbury headline gig, plus postpone their 16-date U.S. tour until 2011. In order to fully recover, Bono is under doctor’s orders to start a rehabilitation program and to recuperate for at least eight weeks.
The Glastonbury cancellation is the real bummer here; the band was set to headline the Pyramid Stage on June 25. No replacement has yet been named, but now there’s a mad dash to find a big name act to take U2’s spot.

As usual, the arrival of a new U2 album is being treated as something akin to the return of Jesus, and unfortunately, U2 lovefest 2009 shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. If anything, it is gaining momentum. First there was that over-enthusiastic 5 star Rolling Stone review of their new album, No Line On the Horizon. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that they would be taking over the Late Show With David Letterman stage for a five night residency. And now, out of NYC comes news that mayor Michael Bloomberg has decided to name a street after the band, temporarily, anyway.
