2012 will be the year that The Killers release their fourth studio album – fans rejoice. Frontman Brandon Flowers told Zane Lowe of BBC Radio 1 that the group is busy working on a new record and that is will “definitely” be out later this year.
Spinner reports that Killers frontman-turned solo artist Brandon Flowers’ first solo disc, Flamingo, entered the U.K. album charts at the number one spot on Sunday, September 12th:
If you are a fan of the Las Vegas rock band The Killers, you probably know all about frontman Brandon Flowers, and his newly conceived solo career. Like most groups, once the ball gets rolling and the fans start lining up, there is bound to be a dispatch of some sort, and in most cases, it usually results in a member going solo. This move can involve a collaboration with different musicians or a change in style or sound, but on Flamingo, Flower’s upcoming album, the change is not so different after all.
Spinner reports that the reunion the whole world has been desperately, hungrily clamoring for (and by ‘desperately, hungrily clamoring,’ I mean ‘Oh, they’re on hiatus? I hadn’t even noticed. Meh’), is in the works – emotionless robo-frontman turned emotionless robo-solo artist Brandon Flowers has announced that he misses his band the Killers and to expect the band to return from hiatus in 2011.
Charlize Theron beats up ninjas and rescues a ragged-looking Brandon Flowers in the singer’s new music video for his first solo single, “Crossfire.” The song will show up on Flowers solo album Flamingo.
The Oscar-winning actress reveals herself to be quite the sword master, whooping much ninja ass along the way. Directed by Nash Edgerton, the stylish video basically follows Theron through a series of ninja battles while she helps save Flowers, who clearly lacks ninja fighting skills, and I imagine is caught in the ‘crossfire.’ Theron looks hot, the song is pretty darn catchy and there are ninjas, so really no reason not to at least spend the four minutes and change checking it out.

Brandon Flowers has finally pulled the curtain back on his first solo tune, which he released on his website last night. The song “Crossfire” is from Flowers’ 10-track debut, Flamingo, due to be released in September.
The Killers vocalist enlisted the help of numerous collaborators like Jenny Lewis and producers Stuart Price, Brendan O’Brien and Daniel Lanois for his first, non-Killers release.

While the protracted Killers hiatus at first sounded like nothing but a wonderful, wonderful thing, it has led to a potentially horrifying/ disastrous consequence—a solo record, Flamingo, from Killers frontman/ Springsteen-lite Brandon Flowers. The record does, however, at least sound interesting, as Spinner reports that not only will it feature production work by Daniel Lanois (U2, Bob Dylan) and Brendan O’Brien (Springsteen, Pearl Jam), the record will also feature duets with Rilo Kiley frontwoman and solo chanteuse Jenny Lewis.
Flowers had this to say about Lewis’ involvement:
Last week we announced the formation of yet another super group who goes by the name, Mt. Desolation. We told you the all-star roster in this country-focused band involves Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci. Well, it sounds like this hiatus of The Killers is about to get completely serious. Why do we say this? Oh, I don’t know… it usually is a big deal when any lead vocalist of a popular band comes out with a solo album… Enter Brandon Flowers.
