The resurgence of Britney Spears rolls on. The pop star’s latest single, “Hold It Against Me,” has debuted at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles Chart.

Spears is only the second artist in Billboard’s 52-year history of the Hot 100 to have more than one single top the chart in its opening week.

This just in! Britney Spears is still trying to wiggle her way back into the world of music, despite having gone off the deep end for a few years there. If she were a 70s rock artist, those flirtations with insanity would simply be part of stardom, but Spears is more well-known for writing the kind of pop that scored bad late 90s teen movies, so who knows if her career can recover from that time when she lost her mind.

Glee‘s “Madonna” episode was a hit so, of course, Britney Spears‘ people demanded they have an entire show dedicated to the pop singer’s catalog as well. Whether this excites you or not, this should be the ultimate mash-up of musical prime TV and pop culture.

For fans of the show, aka “Gleeks,” Heather Morris’ character, “Brittany,” will finally break out of her randomly hilarious ditzy character and have her time in the spotlight as she’ll be taking on songs such as “I’m a Slave 4 U” – complete with green tank top, writhing, snake and all. It’s out there. It’s real. So may as well jump in and help spread the word: Britney Spears is going to show up in an episode of Glee.

Spears will make a cameo appearance in an episode that features her music, but the Fox series about a not at all annoying high school choir will not delve into her personal life, reports BBC News. Glee creator Ryan Murphy said the 28-year-old singer would appear as part of a “reverential” episode showcasing her music.
