“American Idol” has revealed some excellent musical talent to the world, but when it comes to acting talent, things have been a little uneven. Jennifer Hudson showed she’s got some skills in Dreamgirls, but does anyone even remember From Justin to Kelly? We’re guessing that the few people who saw that film have suppressed the memory.
Next in line is Carrie Underwood, who will appear in the film Soul Surfer. The first trailer debuted today.

Last night was the big night for the music industry. The 52nd Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles’ Staples Center and everyone from Justin Beiber to Jeff Beck showed up for the special event. Also, like usual, they managed to cram in 16 performances into a three hour show.
Although, we have to admit, with the exception of Lady Gaga, Beyonce, The 3-D Michael Jackson tribute, and Mary J. Blige/Andrea Bocelli duet, the show didn’t live up to the hype last night. Whether you tuned in or missed out last night, we’ve got all the performances for you to watch below!

American Idol is on a roll! Last year, Jennifer Hudson sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl, and the year before the young Jordin Sparks wowed everyone with her incredible version of the national anthem. This year, Carrie Underwood will be singing her version at the Super Bowl — but the country singer won’t be alone, Queen Latifah will also be performing America the Beautiful.

I think it’s safe to say that the majority of BeatCrave readers don’t pay much attention to country music. Whether I’m right or wrong in my assumption, it doesn’t matter. The Academy of Country Music has released their list of 2009 nominations and it seems they’ve thrown a bit of a curve ball.
The Raconteurs actually made the list for “Musical Event of the Year” with the song “Old Enough”. Now I’m not quite sure what constitutes a “Musical Event of the Year” (I was thinking music festivals and the like) but it seems that in country music, a song is considered an event and what an event “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” by Brooks & Dunn ft Reba McEntire must have been.
On another note, Brad Paisley has been nominated for six awards this year which is quite an achievement. Here’s the full list according to the Associated Press:
