Our time up in San Francisco went by faster than we had hoped! Outside Lands Festival 2010 was literally a nice breath of fresh air compared to festivals like Coachella. It also had that breeze we didn’t get at Lollapalooza the weekend before. Most of all, it had a lot of hippies who just wanted to share the love… man. To see everything from your favorite bands such as Empire of the Sun, Chromeo, My Morning Jacket and more, enjoy our Outside Lands Festival 2010 photo gallery of ALL the photos we took.
We’ve also broken our photos down into each individual day: Saturday and Sunday. However, if you’d like to take a look at all our photos at once, we’ve got every single one of them below for you!

It was only an hour or so until the sun would start to set at Outside Lands Festival and electro-funk duo, Chromeo, was also taking the stage. Promoting their upcoming album, Business Casual (which comes out on September 14th in the States), the duo has been been all over the nation playing old and new songs. In fact, they were just in Chicago last weekend while we were there for Lollapalooza.
Their set up for OSL differed from their stage at Lolla. This time, their equipment was set up closer to each other since it was just Dave 1 and P-Thugg rocking it up there for us this time. Last weekend, they may have had Robert Palmer-like back up dancers (which was perfect for songs like “Night By Night”) but they did come to SF toting those famous Fancy Footwork keyboard stands again.

We finally have a title and date from the beloved electro-funk duo, Chromeo, in regards to their upcoming album. It’s been nearly three years since the release of Fancy Footwork, but the freshest thing we’ve heard from the two is their “Night By Night” single. Although a great throwback to their last album, we want to hear what they’ve been working on all this time. We’ll have to wait until August 17th for Business Casual, but at least we’re hearing a lot of good things about it already.

As we all know, the lineup for Bonnaroo 2010 was announced yesterday band by band through the festival’s website, MySpace, and Twitter. The big acts such as The Flaming Lips, Weezer, and Kings of Leon weren’t a big surprise especially since Wayne Coyne told everyone about playing some trippy Pink Floyd music.
However, out of all the special guests and pairings, everyone seems to be singling out the team between Daryl Hall, one half of blue-eyed soul popsters, Hall and Oates, and the electrofunk duo, Chromeo.

It’s been too long since Electro-funk duo, Chromeo, has released another great dance album, but we’re happy to tell you that Dave 1 and P-Thugg are hard at work on a new album slated for release in Summer 2010. Their latest single, “Night By Night,” maintains their signature sound with synthesized disco-pop beats and addictive refrains via vocoder. Once again the two succeed at a great partnership in songwriting for pop lovers at a level we haven’t heard since Hall and Oates.
MTV just released their video for the track, and we can’t say we blame the actresses in it all that much. Who wouldn’t want to sneak off into a secret warehouse, pay P-Thugg in straight-up cash, and receive a one-on-one dance with Dave 1 in return? Sarcastic Flashdance references are offered, but just look at that “Fancy Footwork!” (It’s really hard to resist puns sometimes.) Check it out below!

Wasn’t it just yesterday that we mentioned Yo Gabba Gabba!? True story.
Why were we talking about Nickelodeon’s kids show? Probably because we love Chromeo and they are just ONE of the awesome artists who have contributed to the show. Forget Dora the Explorer or silly purple teletubbies. Yo Gabba Gabba! managed to become the coolest show for both kids and adults. Usually teaching kids positive lessons like “lathering up” before dinner time, guest stars always include indie-friendly artists such as of Montreal, The Shins, and The Roots.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard new material from electro-funk duo, Chromeo. Fancy Footwork was a huge hit with with us and we want more than just a deluxe edition of that!
We understand that they’ve kept busy with remixing everyone from Feist to Vampire Weekend, hanging out with Darryl Hall from Hall and Oates (kismet!), and telling kids to lather up but there isn’t another duo who combines the sound of the past and present quite like Dave 1 and P-Thugg. We demand another album full of dance anthems!

Spotify has added 11,280 albums and singles to their catalogue, to a total of 127,578 new songs available, after signing a deal with indie digital distributor Zebralution. For a full listing of the additions check out these Google Docs: sorted by artist and by label. According to the Spotify blog:
Today’s update is most likely the biggest update we’ve had since we launched last year.
New releases include The Spinning Top by Graham Coxon, She’s In Control from Chromeo, and material from Bill Evans, Café Sputnik and Kutiman. I especially appreciated the addition of the classic Allotria Jazz Band and the Balkan/ska Amsterdam Klezmer Band.

Attention festivalphiles of the world: If you don’t have 4th of July Weekend plans yet, reserve a spot on your calendar. Michigan’s Rothbury music festival will return for its 2nd annual event July 2-5 at the Doulbe JJ Ranch and Resort to bring you a genuine slice of jam-band heaven.
With headliners The Dead (playing their only summer date), Bob Dylan and His Band, The String Cheese Incident and Willie Nelson, it’s clear that Rothbury will take the forefront of hippie-rock-revival shows so far this year (sorry Bonnaroo, you got Phish, but Dylan and The Dead just set a new bar). The headliners might appeal primarily to an older crowd, but the fest has much more to offer…
If you’re a little younger and hip with the times, no worries. This year’s lineup features a variety of contemporary genres, from indie groups like Guster and Broken Social Scene to hip-hop and dance acts like Girl Talk and Chromeo. Here’s the full lineup:
