Everyone’s abuzz with their opinions on the rumored list of musicians and bands playing Coachella in 2012, the first year of which to hold the event two weekends in a row (April 13th-15th for Weekend 1 and Aprl 20th-22nd for Weekend 2). Although we’re not sure about the source of the leaked list (we did emphasize rumored, right?), it’s always possible that the leaked material is mostly correct.
Coachella has begun, and while we’re stuck here simply writing about music, countless fans have descended upon the festival to take in the experience. As always, the show is offering those in attendance an impeccable lineup of the best modern music acts, mixing popular artists with obscure indie groups. So, we’d like to know, which of these acts is your personal favorite?
The 2011 lineup for Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has finally been announced! After a ridiculous amount of fake posters with “dream lineups” started floating around on the internet, we can now either start to rejoice or complain.
We can start off rejoicing. Unlike other music festivals throughout the year, Coachella has been pretty simple with announcements. They announced their dates early on and now they’ve unveiled their list of artists without torturing us through a long process. Did your guesses make the actual cut? Coachella has made a name for itself as one of the best music festivals in the world; each year an impossible -to-beat wish list of popular and obscure acts converge to throw a music fan’s dream party. The show returns on April 15, 16 and 17 of this year, and while a full line-up has yet to be confirmed, the rumor mill is already running. According to Billboard, two acts that may show up this year are Duran Duran and The Strokes.
Even when it seems as though half of the music you hear these days has been processed and auto-tuned to death, the fact is that there are still plenty of artists out there with raw talent, and the best way to recognize this is to catch their live shows. 2010 was a great year for concert-goers of all tastes. Whether you like country-pop, rap, indie rock, and whether you prefer festivals, concert series or solo tours, there was something for everyone this year.

Just a little over half an hour ago, Coachella‘s official Twitter account announced the 2011 dates. We’re aware of the fact that a lot of news comes through our Twitter feeds these days but just to make sure, we went over to the official Coachella website. It’s true. Coachella 2011 will be happening on Friday, April 15th – Sunday, April 17th. The countdown has even already begun. Mark your calendars!
Striking a potential blow against angry, in between song banter/ bitching, a judge ruled this week that Jerry Goldstein, former manager of Sylvester Stewart (you might know him as Sly Stone of Sly and the Family Stone), could move forward in his countersuit against Sly, according to Inland SoCal. The basis of the countersuit? Sly complained about Goldstein live and onstage during his Coachella performance this year (ironically, one of the few coherent moments of Sly’s performance).
The sun was shining and the man that came onstage was wearing black slacks and a heavy jacket with colorful strings hanging from it. Jónsi was a colorful character last Sunday afternoon during Coachella weekend. He was filling in the number right before Phoenix (who was filling the number right before Thom Yorke) so the ‘Outdoor Theater’ crowd vastly growing.
Imogen Heap walked onto the Mojave stage on Friday in a gorgeous silver-sequenced dress, fancy tights, and her hair in a huge, messy bun. She started her set from the piano and worked her way around the stage jumping from piano to electric keyboards to cymbals and then drums. She had three microphones — two on her wrists and one around her head.There was a lot of movement, a lot of accessories, and a lot of confusion. This show for lack of a better word was a hot mess.
