After seeing these guys perform live, Cut Copy has held a special place in my iPod. Their live shows are full of energy and give off the vibes of a super trendy club on 80′s night. This same feel is captured on their albums which have just enough retro mixed with the perfect amount of electropop to create music that is surprisingly timeless. Comprised of Dan Whitford, Tim Hoey and Mitchell Scott, Cut Copy are three Australians who are gaining a larger legion of fans with every beat and are definitely loved by us here at BeatCrave.

It’s that time of year again! Time for our favorite music magazines to start listing their top picks for 2008. We’ve recently got our hands on Pitchfork’s Top Album and Top Tracks of 2008 as well as Paste’s Top Live Music Acts on 2008.
Who earned top honors this year?
It looks like Cut Copy, Deerhunter, Fleet Foxes, and Portishead all made the top 10 lists for album and track of the year. While Tom Waits and Radiohead took top honors when it came to live performances. You think these lists were right on par or was someone left off you think deserves a space on one of the top picks lists?
Check out videos of Tom Waits and Radiohead after the break:

Maroon 5 enlisted the help of their friends to created their newest album: Call and Response: The Remix Album. The album features bands such as of Montreal, Deefhoof, and Cut Copy doing their own remixes of some of Maroon 5′s greatest tracks.
Curious to hear what it all sounds like? Some of the tracks are available to be streamed right now directly off Maroon 5′s MySpace page. The full album which also features remixes by producers like Bloodshy & Avant, Pharrell, Swizz Beats, and Just Blaze is available now on iTunes and Amazon.
