Last night, Lana Del Rey redeemed herself on the Late Show. In an off-white mini-dress, the pouty singer impressed David Letterman so much that he invited her back the next day, and Monday. Paul Schaffer went as far as to call her performance “gorgeous.” Could it be true? Was Del Rey actually great live? Watch her performance below.

Late night talk shows have their share of musicians every night and the depending on who the host is (or rather how much he is involved with the music booking), there’s usually a lot of room for variety. However, when it comes around to that time of the night and the musical guest is on last, that performance better be fantastic enough to keep you from dozing off.
Ladies and gentleman, enter the amazing Janelle Monae.

David Letterman made a splash in the news with his announcement of adultery in the office to avoid exploitation from a blackmailer. Going forward with something like that took guts no matter how much we all approved or disapproved of his previous actions. As usual, the arrival of a new U2 album is being treated as something akin to the return of Jesus, and unfortunately, U2 lovefest 2009 shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. If anything, it is gaining momentum. First there was that over-enthusiastic 5 star Rolling Stone review of their new album, No Line On the Horizon. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that they would be taking over the Late Show With David Letterman stage for a five night residency. And now, out of NYC comes news that mayor Michael Bloomberg has decided to name a street after the band, temporarily, anyway.

David Letterman’s show will feature its first ever artist residency during the week of March 2. U2 will be on the show for all five nights that week, which just happens to coincide with the release of their newest album, No Line on the Horizon on March 3. What a wonderful occasion for everyone who wants to hear Bono talk even more than he normally does. At least there’s a chance with Letterman that he’ll spend much of the time making fun of Bono and what he says because the show is meant to be entertainment, not a soap box.
