Dawes is a folk rock band from North Hills, California. They released their debut album North Hills in 2009, full of poignant and husky vocals, string-picking, light drumming, and strategic keyboard. In a time when Fleet Floxes, Mumford & Sons, These United States and more are bringing back the honesty into music through their musical arrangements, you’d think it would be hard for another band to prove themselves just as worthy. Dawes has had no problem proving they’re something worth to listen to. Fans flocked to their sets when they recently performed at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Sunset Junction. They will be touring the U.S. and Canada once Austin City Limits kicks off and those dates will run through November. Check out Dawes in our BeatCrave Fav series below!

Some big names that got us warmed up for the night’s headliners included Stars, Metric, Grizzly Bear, AFI, Spoon and more. We were able to support our Los Angeles bands such as Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Soft Pack (San Diego’s close enough), Dawes and more as well. However, the night ended with fireworks during Green Day, Phoenix and Empire of the Sun. Take a look at our day in photos below!
