Ryan Gosling has come a long way from The Mickey Mouse Club. Not only does he have a steady acting career but he’s also put his vocal talents to use on the wonderful album he released with his friend, Zach Shields. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I really hope you were at Dead Man’s Bones set at FYF Fest this weekend. If you weren’t, you missed out on the most eclectic performance the festival could have brought you.

Zach Shields and Ryan Gosling’s spook-rock experiment, Dead Man’s Bones, came to life in full force on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Eagle Rock Center for the Arts. Joined on stage by ghost cowboys, magicians, mentalists, marionettes, and a kid’s choir (who named themselves “ A Warm Glass of Milk” for the evening), Dead Man’s Bones turned Sunday straight into an all ages Halloween Prom, with a generous helping of balloons, cotton candy and popcorn.

The Ryan Gosling musical side-project with buddy Zach Shields, Dead Man’s Bones, is still chugging along nicely, picking up the necessary low-key hype and pop culture interest. And now the self-titled debut of the kinda-spooky-themed project can be heard this week only in its entirety on MySpace.

Dead Man’s Bones New Video

deadmansbonesss09 4 10 Dead Mans Bones New VideoLast year Dead Man’s Bones, Ryan Gosling and Zach Sheilds, released a video for their track, “In The Room Where You Sleep.” It is dark and sad song that is driven by piano and hard drums, but has a certain quality of innocence due to singing children’s choir that backs the band. When I had seen it, I was surprisingly impressed. It’s seldom that you actually want to listen to an actor’s music project for pure enjoyment of the tunes, and not for the sake of novelty. Gosling has proven himself to be a man of many talents, and the new video for the song, “Name in Stone,” is just as enthralling as the last.
