Big news for Eminem this week – his pretty-good-since-it’s-at-least-not-Relapse-again album Recovery was released last week, and according to Billboard, the thing is selling like crazy. How crazy? Like AC/DC and Coldplay crazy (and isn’t it a little disheartening that those bands are the metrics by which bestselling records are now based?).
MTV reports that Eminem has done some maturing in the past few years out of the public eye (and ears). In a New York Times Magazine interview promoting his new record, Recovery, Marshall Mathers admits that he’s discovered a newfound clarity with sobriety, and that, for now anyway, his ‘Slim Shady’ alter-ego is something of the past.
Eminem‘s latest album, Recovery, has inevitably leaked on to the internet and everyone is up in arms about it. How did it happen? What are we gonna do? Honestly, if anyone is still surprised that this happens… please jump off a cliff just like Em does in his latest video.
It’s 2010, people. Everything is leaked and ripped on to the internet. Even if it doesn’t leak, when it comes out it’ll be uploaded for people to download immediately. The true fans WILL buy the albums and pay for it legally. People who are just curious and half-interested will most likely download them illegally.
In what is essentially one of the most bizarre collaborations in recent memory, Eminem has teamed up with absolutely horrid pop star (well, ‘star’ is kind of pushing it at this point) Pink to record “Won’t Back Down” for Em’s upcoming disc, Recovery, due June 22nd. It’s one of those pop culture collusions that you’d think is so oddball and leftfield that it would just have to work, right?
Eminem is back to doing what he loves — bashing on people. He must be tired of dissing entertainers (Mariah, Christina Aguilera, and Michael Jackson) because his latest victim is an NFL player. The Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who was suspended for six games by the league commissioner after being accused of sexual assault (by a 20-year-old college student) is the newest person of interest in Em’s war of words.
VH1 reports that rapper Eminem’s newest single, “Not Afraid,” from his upcoming Recovery album, is distinctly different from Em’s usual lead-single fare—typically, Eminem’s lead singles tend to be his most poppy (and most pop-culture obsessed), with the MC acting like a deranged Weird Al Yankovic with a proclivity for cursing, pills and taking potshots at pop starlets. With “Not Afraid,” however, Eminem is darker and more introspective, with the lyrics primarily holding himself in the crosshairs:
Brace yourselves, Eminem fans, as the increasingly reclusive rapper dropped a bombshell (well, at least as far as his fans are concerned) via his Twitter last night: “There is no Relapse 2.”
The notorious MC had, this time last year, promised fans a Relapse sequel by the fall of 2009, which was then pushed back into ’10. MTV now reports that the status of the would-be record is now completely unknown, but points out that Em also tweeted, “Don’t worry. Some big news is coming. Soon.”
Today in “What? No, really?” music news, MTV UK reports that Paramore frontwoman/ Gwen Stefani 2.0 Hayley Williams has collaborated on a new song with Atlanta rapper B.o.B. and Eminem. Seriously, we’re not joking. All three of them are going to appear on a song…together.

According to NME, Scotland will be holding their annual 3-day music festival, T in the Park, on July 9 – 11 and will offer music acts, Eminem and Muse as headliners for 2010.
