A few days ago, everyone was talking about the photo of Fever Ray which surfaced online. In this photo, Fever Ray is accepting a speech for her award at the P3 Guld Public radio award show. As you see in the photo on the left, she is wearing a mask that makes face look as if it were melting. It’s a bit kooky and a bit scary.
Now, we have a video of Fever Ray walking up to the stage from her seat. She has her face covered until she unveils the melted-face mask right before her acceptance speech. The only thing is, her acceptance speech managed to be more frightening and awkward than the mask! Watch the video below to get what we mean.

Karin Dreijer‘s of Fever Ray who was selected as one of our BeatCrave Favs has put together another trippy, creepy, and beautiful video for her new single “Triangle Walks.” Just like in her music video for “When I Grow Up” we see Dreijer’s with her face painted, surrounded by cold and eerie images. Ist’ kind of reminds me of Bjork mixed with the film The Cell.

This is a really remarkable video. I’m completely mesmerized by the pacing, the color, the movement, and the fuildity of it. I guess it helps that the Director, Martin de Thurah, got his idea from water. Thurah said about the video: “That initial idea was something about something coming out of water — something which was about to take form – a state turning into something new. And a double headed creature not deciding which way to turn. But the idea had to take a simpler form, to let the song grow by itself. I remembered a photo I took in Croatia two years ago, a swimming pool with its shining blue color in a grey foggy autumn landscape.”
Well he succeeded in shooting just that. Check out Fever Ray’s video for “When I Grow Up” off her upcoming self titled album (review) in stores on March 24th below…

Karin Dreijer Andersson – one-half of brother-sister Swedish act and electronic powerhouse The Knife – is operating under a different name these days. Having won six Grammys alongside her brother Olof Dreijer, Andersson has launched into a solo project and therefore highly-anticipated album entitled Fever Ray. Fans of her past achievements will appreciate a track listing that is very ambiance-oriented, embracing a familiar electronica style while incorporating more earthy qualities, both with elements of nature and a utilization of “real” percussion. Interestingly enough, the album tends to prance about as a sort of reverse-Enya, with the same free-your-mind incitement, however coupled with dark, brooding undertones. Instead of attributing a vocal connection to luminous heavenly creatures, such a relation is more so to unconventional otherworldly bodies – far-off, alien, and planetary.

Her album is the culmination of work that began in 2007 when Karin and Olof, the brother-sister duo who are The Knife, decided to take time out following a handful of incredible live shows. Their first two albums did well in their Swedish homeland; their third, Silent Shout, went to Number One, won six Swedish Grammys, underlined their reputation as an act capable of the truly extraordinary.
