We are still out in the beautiful state of Washington and need to give you an update on all the fun that is going on at the Sasquatch Festival. On Sunday we discovered a new acoustic tent where we had the opportunity to catch some of the bands playing the larger stages in an intimate stripped down setting. The chance to catch Flogging Molly or Fitz and the Tantrums with just 50 other people, dancing arm in arm, was something rather spectacular. But for its 10th year, who wouldn’t expect anything but the best.

The Flaming Lips appearing on Yo Gabba Gabba! just feels right, a perfect match of the band’s whimsical, psychedelic pop-rock and the show’s hip, costumed characters.
The band will perform “I Can Be A Frog” on the November 5th episode of the Nickelodeon show along with host DJ Lance Rock and the whole Yo Gabba Gabba cast.
The two minute “I Can Be A Frog” appears on the Lips’ album Embryonic. Check out the video below.

Okay so not everyone is totally jazzed about The Flaming Lips reworking Pink Floyds’s legendary Dark Side Of The Moon. A report by wenn.com says that after performing Dark Side Of The Moon in its entirety during a hometown show in Oklahoma on New Year’s Eve, the band was hit by a ton of angry comments from annoyed Pink Floyd purists.

Hopefully if you’re a Flaming Lips fan you will be in or near LA later this week, because in honor of their new studio album release Embryonic, they will be playing a MySpace Music Secret Show in Hollywood, CA, on Thursday, October 15 for their MySpace friends and fans! That’s right, see one of the craziest bands live at the intimate Nike Theater.
Tickets for the event will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis at The Nike Theater in Hollywood, CA, on October 15 from Noon until Midnight. Additional tickets will be available at Amoeba records with purchase of the Embryonic CD on street date, October 13. Sadly, ticket holders are not guaranteed seating so make sure you show up to the event early! Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and will close at capacity. I’m guessing you should be there by noon at the latest. Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll meet plenty of fun people while waiting in line.

Check out The Flaming Lips new two minute song “I Can Be A Frog” with a hot girl in a bikini dancing around like a mad woman pretending to be all the things he’s singing about. I for one am on the fence about this video. Some people are calling it “pure imagination” and others “pointless.” I get that The Flaming Lips create work that inspires you to use your imagination, but if I have to use it in order to create somethine that’s not there, than it is in fact pointless.
Check out the video below and decide for yourself…

Check out some of the photos from the first song at Pitchfork Music Festival below (and yes all of this occurred during only one song)….

Happy Monday, BeatCravers. Hope you had a relaxing weekend. Here are some stories you may have missed:
- Bjork announced plans to release a double CD/DVD/Vinyl compilation of live recordings and remixes on June 23rd. Originally announced back in February, the package will be titled Voltaic, it will include highlights from the Volta tour, all of the Volta music videos, a live studio session from the recently closed Olympic Studios, and remixes from Volta by the likes of Simian Mobile Disco, Matthew Herbert, Graeme Sinden, Ghostigital, and Modeselektor. [Spacelab]
- The Flaming Lips‘ song “Do You Realize??” was made Oklahoma’s official state rock song on May 1st. The executive order was signed at 2 PM at the Oklahoma Historic Center by Governor Brad Henry. Rock on, Oklahoma! When will the other 49 states follow suit? [Filter-Mag]
- 30 Second to Mars is back with the Virgin label. The band initially split, declaring their contract with Virgin null and void. The record label responded with a 30 million dollar law suit. No public reason has been given for the band’s sudden change of heart, but a new album is tentatively scheduled to be released in the fall. [Aversion]
