So, the Coachella line up (potential line-up – there could be additions) has officially been posted! From the looks of it, the roster of artists is very spread out in terms of genre, mainstream, and quantity. Friday’s giving us Girl Talk, Morrissey, and the Ting Tings. Saturday’s presenting Dr. Dog, Fleet Foxes, and MSTRKRFT. Then Sunday anticipates Jenny Lewis, No Age, and Vivian Girls…. However, the question is: What is the quality of this line up?
We’ve been hearing mixed reactions to the line-up and some of them have been extremely disapproving or extremely delighted. So we want to know one thing. If you had to choose ONLY ONE DAY out all all three dates, which day would you go to Coachella for?

We’ve picked out favorite artist of the week. Now it’s time for your turn to weigh in.
Do you prefer the young, sarcastic, and at times foul mouthed Lilly Allen (listen here)? The new computer boy in town who rocks out three instruments in one, PlayRadioPlay! (listen here)? The country band on crack, also known as, O’Death (listen here)? Or the solo spinning genius, Girl Talk (listen here)?

Girl Talk has created quite the buzz this year. Greg Gillis, the sole genius behind the most infamously incredible mash-up artist this year (if not ever) has been selling out shows across the country. While his music may be questionably legal, there is no question that his live shows are nothing less than spectacular (read the BeatCrave Review). With the release of Feed the Animals, Girl Talk has also been creating quite a stir in music critic circles: even Stephen King placed Girl Talk’s album in the number 4 spot of his Top Ten Albums of the Year (why Stephen King is writing about music I don’t know but, with this selection he’s proving to have great taste (read it)). With the uncanny ability to take a song on one end of the spectrum and layer it with a song on the complete opposite end and turn into an amazingly enjoyable moment of noise, Girl Talk proves that there is more than one way to create original music and, for that reason amongst many others, deserves a place in this week’s BeatCreave Fave.
If you love Girl Talk as much as we do, vote for him on Friday as the BeatCrave Fave pick of the week.

Wow. Watch out Coachella, there’s a new festival in town. Who knew that one of the most unique lineups you’d ever seen would be held at Bicentennial Park in Miama. The Langerado Music Festival is where the above photo was taken, so I guess it’s fair to say, they’ve does this kind of thing before. But they mix up everything from Flogging Molly, to Snoop Dogg, and Death Cab for Cutie, to Girl Talk. How cool is that?

Gregg Gillis, a self described maker of pop/pop/POP music is at it again with his latest album, Feed the Animals, and on tour. I recently saw him in concert and you should too. His music is a dream for today’s youth suffering from self inflicted ADD. It’s almost too much for me to sit through a whole CD of one artist but that is why listening to a Girl Talk album is so much fun…it’s like listening to 50 albums at once from all corners of the music world!
And if you think his music is interesting, just look at his life. He went to school for biomedical engineering in Ohio and later got a job in that field while leading a double life as a DJ Rock Superstar. It wasn’t until it all became too hectic that he decided to quit his job in May of last year.
He mashes up everything from Nirvana to Lil’ Mama and back again to Elton John’s Tiny Dancer and Britney Spears Gimme More all the while weaving a mixture of booty shaking beats and 50 cent style “yeah yeahs” to keep the rhythm.

BeatCrave recently had the opportunity to check out the supremely popular and quite infamous Girl Talk at the Henry Fonda Theatre. The idea of going to see a performer who doesn’t play a single instrument but plays music that is originally someone elses seems quite odd. Regardless of how strange it may seem, GirlTalk managed to sell out two nights in a row while he graced Los Angeles with his remixes of questionable legality. The reason behind his ability to sell-out venues accross the country? Quite simple really: Girl Talk is one of the most exciting, fun and energetic shows one could ever wish to attend.
