Girls 11 Austin City Limits 2010: Girls on Film, Pain on Stage

San Francisco indie rockers Girls took the stage at Austin City Limits 2010 on Friday ready to play loud and proud.  Unfortunately for them, and much to the chagrin of the audience, sound issues kept them from playing a powerful set. Yes, they were victims of the infamous “technical difficulties.” It’s a crappy thing that happens to the best artists. So how did they deal with it? How do you think, they rocked out!

Spike Jonze will be releasing the soundtrack to his critically acclaimed short film titled I’m Here. The film about love between two robots co-existing alongside humanity in Los Angeles debuted during Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and it’s only now that Jonze will be releasing the soundtrack.

Jonze recruited Flea of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Aska Matsumiya to compose original music for the film, and together, all three artists are listed as The Lost Trees. The soundtrack also boasts a nice indie touch to it with bands such as Animal Collective, Sleigh Bells, Girls and more. Check the tracklist out below!

With a new hair cut, Christopher Owens and his band impressed us yet again.

Girls had a sold-out show at The Troubadour last night, and we couldn’t have been more happy for the San Franciscan band. Yet, if you weren’t one of the lucky ones who got tickets, you may have been majorly bummed. However, if you happened to hear a little secret going around about a free show yesterday afternoon, your mood may have drastically changed.

Yes; Girls had a secret and free show at Space 15 Twenty yesterday afternoon in Hollywood and we were there to capture it for you. Christopher Owens and band members played songs that were both heartbreaking and endearing and you can re-live it all through the photos below. Enjoy!
