Gorillaz are currently over on the east coast playing a couple of massive shows this weekend but last night they had offered a pretty spectacular opportunity for those who attended Late Show with Letterman. After their late night TV appearance, the band actually stayed at the Ed Sullivan Theater to put on a 45-minute show.
That audience couldn’t have picked a better episode to be at for a live taping. Not only is the entire performance available to watch via CBS but De La Soul came out during this set of theirs! De La Soul and Gorillaz live when you only paid to see one Letterman episode live? That’s a bonus, If I say so myself. However, those of us who weren’t even there are the lucky ones. The show is available in the video below. Thank God for technology. Stream away!

Last week we shared the news of Gorillaz‘s “Escape To Plastic Beach” World Tour which includes a ton of North American dates. However, the when and where details were only recently revealed. The Gorillaz frontman also shared his thoughts on how much better their headlining experience at Glastonbury could have gone and give some hope to hard core Blur fans. More details are after the jump!

With much hype surrounding their latest release, Plastic Beach, Gorillaz have recently announced in a press release that they will definitely be traveling North American in support of the album. Coachella was great but it’s not the only place to land a show project of Blur‘s leading man, Damon Albarn. Starting on October 3rd, Gorillaz will be headlining a slew of cities and playing the new jams (and hopefully some classics) in a the tour they have dubbed as the “Escape To Plastic Beach” World Tour.

Never wanting to leave us bored, the Gorillaz are back with a new kind of music video for their single “Melancholy Hill”. Once again, the Gorillaz are always pushing the boundaries and coming up with new ways to bring our favorite animated characters to our screens (isn’t it odd that the musicians never show their faces and yet they have some of the most interesting visuals? Got to love that!). The video’s actually a interesting combination of both 2D and 3D animation (which I guess you need 3D glasses for?) and features cameos from Lou Reed, Snoop Dogg, and other album contributors.
Check out the new video…

Update: Watch Lou Reed perform with Gorillaz at Glastonbury!
Who knows, maybe they’ll break out a Velvet Underground song or two. While that would be super awesome, though unlikely, it’s still going to be a treat to see Gorillaz joined by Lou Reed onstage during their Glastonbury set tomorrow night (June 25).
Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s cartoon band will headline the festival’s Pyramid Stage, and the duo is expected to be visited onstage by not only Reed, but other Plastic Beach guest stars including Mos Def, Kano, Bashy, Snoop Dogg and Shaun Ryder.

Due to Bono’s back surgery last week — you don’t think it gets any easier to carry the weight of the world and that ego once you’re over the hill, do you? — U2 has been forced to postpone or cancel several upcoming gigs, including a headlining slot in England’s Glastonbury festival. Glastonbury’s response? Replace one increasingly cartoonish band with a literal cartoon band: Gorillaz.
