With the apparently family-destroying days of “Hanna Montana” behind her, pop star Miley Cyrus isn’t ready to leave the limelight just yet. Yahoo! reports that she’ll be hosting “Saturday Night Live” this Saturday, March 5; clearly she’s trying to branch out, since the show airs at 11:30 ET, which is long past the bedtime of her former target audience.

It had to happen sometime, as sad as it is. (Well, we’re assuming someone had to be sad about it.) Miley Cyrus recently turned 18, and as an adult, she’s, uh, ready to mature and grow as an artist. As such, last night marked the final episode of “Hannah Montana“, the TV show that confused out-of-touch pop culture fans who could never figure out if Montana was Cyrus’ alter ego, or vice versa.

Worry no longer. She’s just Miley Cyrus from now on. Maybe that’s still good reason to worry…

Jonas Brothers Movie Disappointing Disney

800px the jonas brothers perform at the kids inaugural cropped Jonas Brothers Movie Disappointing DisneyThe Jonas Brothers’ movie was released this past weekend. It’s was supposed to be one of the top movies of the year, starring the hottest thing around, the Jonas Brothers. I mean, come on! They played at the White House! And the movie is in 3-D!

The movie is of a concert the Jonas brothers played last year. Unfortunately for Disney, the opening box office was only $12.7 million, one-third of what the company expected the movie to bring in over its first weekend. It didn’t even finish in first place at the box office, coming in second behind the second week of the instant classic, Tyler Perry’s (I’m not sure if Tyler Perry’s is part of the actual title, but I haven’t seen the rest of title written without Tyler Perry’s in front of it, so I’m assuming it is) Madea Goes to Jail. Disney denies that the Jonas Brothers movie is a disappointment, but it is doing much worse than their first such attempt to sucker parents out of the $10 they need to get a child into a movie theater, last year’s The Best of Both Worlds, a movie of a Miley Cyrus concert, which brought in $31.1 on its opening weekend. Best of Both Worlds did have an advantage in that it was billed as a one-week only release, but still, the Jonas Brothers movie cannot be considered a success.
