Much like the Flat Earth Society, Hanson is still hanging in there, despite the fact that they are, well, Hanson, and that the round earth has roundly (get it? Round!) rejected them several times over for the horrors they released upon us all mid-nineties. Despite all of that, today marks the release of their eighth record, the pop-soul hybrid Shout it Out. The disc was released on the band’s own 3CG Records
Note: I’m not sure if was the “eighth record” part, or the fact that I wrote the words “soul” and “Hanson” in the same paragraph, but I’ve just been asked to put a warning label on this news piece: “May cause aneurysms.”

The Hanson brothers, Isaac, Taylor and Zac, are back with their fifth studio album, Shout it Out. The band’s first single “Thinking ’bout Something” has been getting a good buzz since it was released to digital outlets on Friday the same day they performed the single on “ The David Letterman Show.” Now the trio is gearing up to take their act on the road…

Hanson is prepping for the release of their album Shout It Out, which hits stores on June 8th. Today, they announced the premiere of their new music video for the catchy and happy song “Thinking ‘Bout Something’” on Myspace Music. This is the first single on the album and will be released via iTunes on April 27.
The video is inspired by a scene from The Blues Brothers, where soul music sparks a huge impromptu crowd to dance in the streets. For the music video, Hanson headed out to the streets of their hometown Tulsa, OK and casted more than 300 extras to be in the video (children, local dancers, and fans). Like the song, the video has the musical-feel to it, but it’s cute. Think Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s musical number in 500 Days of Summer, or something like that. Watch it now…

So as many of you know, a new supergroup called Tinted Windows (James Iha, Adam Schlesinger, Bun E. Carlos, and Taylor Hanson) has formed! Some of you have expressed your feelings that have ranged from disbelief to hesitance to incredible excitement! (Hanson fans.) Well whatever your opinion is at the moment, perhaps a little glimpse into some performances will sway your thoughts. (Hmmm bop.)
Our friends at Stereogum have caught a sneak peak at Tinted Windows songs such as “Kind of Girl” and “Messin’ With My Head.” For some reason the group has chosen an awkward Godwin Alexander to introduce this mini-appearance below, but come March 20th and you’ve got a real performance as part of the Billboard Showcase in SXSW!
Watch the (very short) clips below and let us know what you think. Do the tunes sound mmmbopablicious? Are they hotter than Stacey’s mom?

So, we love it when great musicians collaborate on songs. We love it even more when they form another recording group with each other. However, we’ve come across a new one and we don’t don’t really know what to say about it… Apparently, the newest pop supergroup out there right now is Tinted Windows. Who is in Tinted Windows? Well… there’s James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins (guitar), Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne (bass), Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick (drums), and Taylor Hanson from… er… Hanson (vox). Their album will be coming out in the spring.
Let’s take a moment of silence for future fans of Tinted Windows. These people will probably be going through some mental illness right before they realize how foolish their music taste was… and that will be the last straw for them…
Bun E. Carlos? Taylor Hanson?
What are you thinking? I don’t want to be alone with these thoughts.
