The Darkness is reuniting — or so they say. According to The Sun, Justin and Dan Hawkins are currently demoing new material for a possible followup to One Way Ticket to Hell… and Back, the band’s last album before Justin said so long.

The Sun reports that if the new material is to the label staff’s liking then there will be an attempt to reunite The Darkness. However, for the last three hours or so, Justin has been sending messages via twitter denying all of these “reform” rumors:

Justin Hawkins, former lead singer/spandex jumpsuit-wearer of The Darkness, played with his new band, the oddly-named Hot Leg Tuesday night at the Viper Room. Remember The Darkness? Amid rampant rumors that Brit-rockers The Darkness will reform in 2009 with their original line up, lead singer/guitarist Justin Hawkins has announced the rise of a new Spinal Tap – inspired group, Hot Leg.

Hot Leg will unleash its brand of new-age classic rock on the world with its debut album, “Red Light Fever,” in January.

With his flawless falsetto, which he refers to as the “Truth Larynx,” Hawkins will lead the new band with help from guitarist Pete Rinaldi, bassist Samuel SJ Stokes and drummer Darby Todd.
