One of the bands who received a ton of the hype in 2009 was definitely The xx. With down tempo sounds that almost dip into the R&B genre, their self-titled album has landed them numerous spots at festivals including SXSW, Coachella and plenty more. Fans have also slapped the “must-see” label on the band, because according to some, The xx has offered some of heavenliest and beautiful (but super soft) arrangements yet.

We knew Islands was a synth-loving band, but we didn’t know they were Michael Cera-loving people. The Arrested Development and Superbad star takes on a quirkier role than he’s taken in any film or TV show in Islands’ new video for “No You Don’t” as he takes drugs he gets from a pickup truck.
Watch Cera “trip” beyond belief. See his bedazzled face, his hand that gives off psychedelic colored heat, and fear as he almost cries from his queasiness. It’s kind of fun to see an actor, who will always look 18 and type-cast as a nerd, portray a curious if not rebellious young adult. Check it out below and let us know what you think!

The annual Sunset Junction Street Fair officially kicked off yesterday, and BeatCrave was there to cover the goods for you!
What started out as a very hot and sticky day eventually transformed itself into the perfect breezy summer night just in time for the late acts such as Delta Spirit and Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band. Although there were three stages altogether at the festival, the Bates stage was the place to be for both your favorite and upcoming bands.
