When recording a new album, it’s always nice to have a little help from your friends – especially if one of those friends happens to be the drummer from the greatest rock/pop band since, well, ever. According to Rolling Stone, that’s a fact Ben Harper is well aware of – the singer/ guitarist’s upcoming album with his semi-new band, Relentless7, will feature Beatles drummer Ringo Starr on one track and another will feature Jackson Browne on background vocals.

We earlier covered John McCain’s use of Jackson Browne’s song, “Running on Empty,” in one of his commercials and the suit that Browne filed demanding compensation for the use. Now McCain is fighting back. His lawyers have filed two motions to the U.S. District Court in California, which will hear the case, one defending his use of the song, the other demanding compensation from Browne for the trouble of dealing with the case.

With the election coming up tomorrow, here is (presumably) the final list of artists whose music John McCain was told to stop using:
- Jackson Browne
- Foo Fighters
- Representative John Hall
- Heart
- John Mellencamp
- Frankie Valli
- Van Halen
The Jackson Browne complaint is the most serious for McCain – Browne is suing because McCain used his song in a commercial, while the rest were just used at live events.
