James Taylor and Carole King have always been presented in a nice and soft light. It’s probably because both of them have been staples for those classic Top 40 songs no one is ashamed to enjoy. (“Fire and Rain” and “I Feel The Earth Move” anyone?) Recent factors that highlight their good nature include Taylor and his wife donating thousands of dollars to a music charity and King starring as a quirky record shop owner in Gilmore Girls. (Okay, the latter was years ago but that was awesome and the show highlighted a ton of indie music acts!)
Now, the two are reuniting. It’ll be the first time they will play together on a tour since 1970 when they started at at Los Angeles’ Troubadour. Hence, their joint tour is titled “The Troubadour Reunion.”

With the art departments getting cut from schools every day, music will always need a lending hand. Unfortunately to many, music is a luxury and not a necessity to have in life. Does that sound absurd? We think so too, but it’s always good to know that there are some big names out there trying to keep the music alive.
Verizon, the company mostly known for its phone empire, has recently been very generous when it comes to up and coming musicians – specifically in Brooklyn. Verizon’s own foundation has awarded a $15,000 grant to the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). This grant will aid students enrolled in BAM’s professional development workshops and after-school program. In addition this the $15,000, Verizon has also given the school $10,000 to support the school’s Spring Gala which makes the grand total charity of $25,000.

Elvis Costello has a new television show titled “Spectacle: Elvis Costello with…” debuting on the Sundance Channel on December 3. Each show will be one hour and feature Costello having in-depth conversations with a variety of high-profile guests including The Police, Elton John, Jenny Lewis, Loud Reed and even President Bill Clinton among many others. The guests will also perform songs and Costello will join them.
The show will air every Wednesday at 9 PM EST/PT between December 3 and February 25. Elton John will be the first guest on December 3. Check out the entire guest schedule after the break.
