Of Montreal CP 10 30 2010f of Montreal, Janelle Monae: Concert Review and Photos

This past Halloween weekend, it seemed that every one’s schedules were packed with plenty of concert choices. We got our early start with The New LA Folk Fest and their Murder Ballad night then fell in to a good groove with The Henry Clay People’s Halloween Rock and Roll Circus. However, Saturday – the night everyone would be gallivanting in masks and outrageous get ups at some shindig or another – offered the best to come for we had the opportunity to see Janelle Monae and of Montreal at The Hollywood Palladium.

Boozing it up with your friends and waking up in a different costume the next morning can provide you with a good story. However, opting to take in a show such as of Montreal’s – which was beyond enriched with visuals and sex-crazed theatrics in the midst of vaudeville-esque disco beats – was the way to celebrate in style this year.

Phoenix CP 8 15 2010a1 Photos from Outside Lands Festival 2010

Our time up in San Francisco went by faster than we had hoped! Outside Lands Festival 2010 was literally a nice breath of fresh air compared to festivals like Coachella. It also had that breeze we didn’t get at Lollapalooza the weekend before. Most of all, it had a lot of hippies who just wanted to share the love… man. To see everything from your favorite bands such as Empire of the Sun, Chromeo, My Morning Jacket and more, enjoy our Outside Lands Festival 2010 photo gallery of ALL the photos we took.

We’ve also broken our photos down into each individual day: Saturday and Sunday. However, if you’d like to take a look at all our photos at once, we’ve got every single one of them below for you!

Janelle Monae CP 8 15 2010d Outside Lands 2010: Janelle Monae

With the release of her highly-anticipated album, The ArchAndroid (Suites II and Suite III), Janelle Monae has certainly stepped up in the game of true and talented entertainment. Personally, Ms. Monae was one of the artists I was most excited to see at this year’s Outside Lands Festival. However, with my busy schedule of stage hopping, the singer-songwriter and dancer wounded my warm and fuzzy elation when I was stung with the news that her set would be starting 15 minutes late.

Chris Brown Kanye T.I. Janelle Monae BET Awards Roundup Chris Brown, Kanye, T.I., Janelle Monae: BET Awards Roundup

Last night’s BET Awards was filled with a ton of comeback performances which always make for a more exciting award show, even if the host is the lovely Queen Latifah. We must say even with all the unnecessary hoopla that was surrounding Justin Beiber this season, they booked some pretty great artists to show us what they got right now.

Kanye West triumphantly opened the show up with his new track, “Power,” which had him standing on top of a ridiculously tall mountain in the beginning. He’s always overcompensating for something but hey, at least, he didn’t grab any mics from teenagers onstage this time. (Although… it would have been fun to watch him make Justin Beiber and all his Beliebers cry.)

Late night talk shows have their share of musicians every night and the depending on who the host is (or rather how much he is involved with the music booking), there’s usually a lot of room for variety. However, when it comes around to that time of the night and the musical guest is on last, that performance better be fantastic enough to keep you from dozing off.

Ladies and gentleman, enter the amazing Janelle Monae.
