The Great Gatsby is considered by many to the Great American Novel. Telling as it does the rise and fall of a group of lives in the roaring 1920s, one might expect some period appropriate music in the upcoming film adaptation. What a drag, right?

That’s what we were thinking, anyway, when it was announced today that Beyoncé would be the halftime show performer for Super Bowl XLVII on February 3, 2013 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, located in New Orleans. The news initially leaked via an anonymous person in the know; later, Beyoncé’s official site released a picture of the singer in eye black with the Super Bowl date printed on her face.
