Jeff Buckley looks to be the next major musician to get the Hollywood biopic treatment, and while both his life and career were tragically brief, Buckley’s legacy is as strong as ever. A good biopic will serve to expose his music to a wider audience, but we doubt that a weak biopic would be able to tarnish his image.

Thankfully, though, it looks like some real talent has been brought to this project. According to ScreenCrave, Jake Scott, director of Welcome to the Rileys and son of acclaimed filmmaker Ridley Scott, has been hired to helm the film.

 Poll: Who Would Play Jeff Buckley The Best?

There’s been talk about doing a biopic on famous singer-songwriter, Jeff Buckley, for some time now. Many screenplays have been rejected and now they’re on attempt #3 for getting it together. Buckley is mostly known for his popular cover of Leonard Cohen’s song, “Hallelujah,” and you can be sure that whoever plays him must have some mad talent.

Who are producers interested in and which actors are more than happy to play the part? There’s James Franco who had taken on the role of Hollywood icon James Dean. There’s James Marsden who has displayed his vocal chops in both Hairspray and Enchanted. Then there’s the “it” boy, Robert Pattinson, who has contributed two acoustic tracks to the Twilight soundtrack. Who do you think would play Jeff Buckley the best? Vote below to let us know!

The Glastonbury Festival marks its 40th anniversary in 2010, and organizers are planning to book 40 bands from the past 40 years to play live performances at the event. Radiohead, Blur, PJ Harvey, Jeff Buckley, The Cure and Massive Attack are just a few of the thousands of artists that have graced “Glasto’s” stages.

Michael Eavis founded the event in 1970 on his dairy farm near Pilton, Somerset. His daughter Emily said they were both planning the celebration next year, and told the BBC:

“We want to have a band from every year on the Pyramid Stage.”

Coldplay has admitted to ripping off the work of a fellow musician. In an interview today on the Chris Moyles Show on BBC Radio 1 in London Chris Martin described the groups 200 single “Shiver” as “a blatant Jeff Buckley attempt…Not quite as good, that’s what I think. We were 21 and he was very much a hero, and as with those things it tends to filter through.”

The Coldplay frontman went on to give Coldplay’s recent performances in London “a 3 out of 10″ That’s two pretty big attacks at his own band in just one interview. Was he drunk?
