Jenny and Johnny CP 10 10 2010a Culture Collide Festival 2010: Jenny and Johnny

Jenny and Johnny; there’s no doubt that it’s a cute moniker. Immediately after announcing their relationship as a professional one in addition to their personal one, the buzz swarming around Jenny Lewis and boyfriend Johnathan Rice has only gotten thicker since they released their album, I’m Having Fun Now. Fans of Lewis and Rice had gotten a taste of their collaborative writing beforehand on a handful of Acid Tongue songs but this was the time to see if Jenny and Johnny were a credible couple in a live setting courtesy of Culture Collide Festival.

Of course, as the former red-headed queen of Silverlake, Ms. Lewis and her beau took about 40 minutes to come out on stage. Until now, no other act had any trouble starting on time but this delay wasn’t much of a surprise to those who have seen her live before. Finally walking on to the stage at 8:40 pm, their loyal fans screamed with delight.

jennylewis Jenny Lewis Boycotts Arizona On Upcoming Jenny And Johnny Tour

In case you hadn’t already heard, Rilo Kiley frontwoman and solo chanteuse Jenny Lewis has teamed up with boyfriend/ singer-songwriter Jonathan Rice to form the aptly-titled duo, Jenny and Johnny.  Even further, to promote the band’s upcoming record (produced by Monster of Folk-er Mike Mogis), the band is launching a U.S. tour later this year.  However, according to Spinner, a look at the lovebirds’ tour itinerary will lead one to find one glaring omission in their tour dates – no performances in Arizona.

The Killers Brandon Flowers Goes Solo With Flamingo Brandon Flowers To Duet With Jenny Lewis On Upcoming Solo Album

While the protracted Killers hiatus at first sounded like nothing but a wonderful, wonderful thing, it has led to a potentially horrifying/ disastrous consequence—a solo record, Flamingo, from Killers frontman/ Springsteen-lite Brandon Flowers.   The record does, however, at least sound interesting, as Spinner reports that not only will it feature production work by Daniel Lanois (U2, Bob Dylan) and Brendan O’Brien (Springsteen, Pearl Jam), the record will also feature duets with Rilo Kiley frontwoman and solo chanteuse Jenny Lewis.

Flowers had this to say about Lewis’ involvement:

Jenny Lewis Puts Out Three Videos In The Last Month

Jenny Lewis‘ second solo album, Acid Tongue, has not only sold well but Lewis continues to promote it with three brand new videos whose releases were only separated by a couple of weeks! We’re not complaining though. Her work as leading lady in Rilo Kiley never disappoints us and her solo work proves she is more than a pretty voice.

Her track, “Carpetbaggers,” ft. Elvis Costello is an inside look to studio life and also features her boyfriend, Jonathan Rice, since he wrote the song. “Black Sand” is visualized through a video full of psychedelic images similar to a kaleidoscope. The latest video, however, is the most entertaining. The twangy “See Fernando” is set to a 60′s spy movie theme where Lewis takes on the role of “The Scorpion.”

Watch all three videos below! There’s a lot of Jenny to go around!

Poll: Which Coachella Date Is A Must See For You?

So, the Coachella line up (potential line-up – there could be additions) has officially been posted! From the looks of it, the roster of artists is very spread out in terms of genre, mainstream, and quantity. Friday’s giving us Girl Talk, Morrissey, and the Ting Tings. Saturday’s presenting Dr. Dog, Fleet Foxes, and MSTRKRFT. Then Sunday anticipates Jenny Lewis, No Age, and Vivian Girls…. However, the question is: What is the quality of this line up?

We’ve been hearing mixed reactions to the line-up and some of them have been extremely disapproving or extremely delighted. So we want to know one thing. If you had to choose ONLY ONE DAY out all all three dates, which day would you go to Coachella for?

See the entire 2009 Coachella line-up.
