The Roots NBC Forcing The Roots To Clear All Music After Michelle Bachmann Incident

Proving that sense of humor isn’t exactly NBC’s forte any more (I mean, have you seen their Whitney show?), Jimmy Fallon’s house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Roots, must now have all of their walk-on music for guests cleared by NBC before they play it.  Why?  Because during a recent appearance by Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, The Roots played a cover of “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” by Wishbone, which the Bachmann camp failed to find cute.

Rebecca Black may never be the subject of a serious tribute album, but thanks to the generosity–and, more likely, curiosity–of the general public, she’ll at least get to say that none other than Stephen Colbert performed a cover of her famous song, “Friday.”

The faux-pundit promised viewers that if Jimmy Fallon could raise $26,000 for DonorsChoose.org, he’d sing the song on his show. Well, according to OK!, the people have been willing to open their wallets for this once and a lifetime opportunity. Read on to see Colbert warming up for the gig…

bruce springsteen Watch: Bruce Springsteen Sings Whip My Hair With Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon‘s covers of pop songs and internet sensations which are channeled through Neil Young are not a new thing. We’ve seen Fallon’s Young persona sing hits such as the theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, General Larry Platt’s “Pants On the Ground,” in addition to a melodic rendition of the Double Rainbow guy on YouTube.

This time around, Fallon/Young tackles a 10-year-old’s hit song, “Whip My Hair.” Are we talking about the one and only Willow Smith? Of course, we are. We especially want to point you in the direction of Fallon’s cover because of his special guest. Check it out after the jump!

Justin Timberlake Teases Fans With History Of Rap On Jimmy Fallon Justin Timberlake Teases Fans With History Of Rap On Jimmy Fallon

Justin Timberlake was at the top of the game when he branched out into a solo career. Shaving that curly hair may have had something to do with it, but his talent and sex appeal really shined on his two highly successful albums, Justified and FutureSex/LoveSounds. However the latter was released four years ago and Timberlake hasn’t even hinted at any more solo material coming our way.

Instead, he’s been spending his time out of the spotlight by mentoring Dutch YouTube sensation, Esmeé Denters, and appearing on numerous collaborations. By now, most people also know that the acting bug has bitten him hard and it’s where his focus is now. Props to the pop star for branching out yet again, but it seems like all that musical talent is going to waste. So what did he do on Jimmy Fallon last night that has gotten his fans all in a tizzy? He sang. He danced. It’s just that none of the material was his.

Jimmy Fallon is slowly but surely finding his identity in late night television, and his dead on impersonations are one of the reasons why.
