It appears that John Mayer’s consistent foot-in-mouth disease may have evolved into a pure snake-eating-its-own-tail tableau, literally consuming the soundbite generator out of existence. Or at least, if the Fates are good, off of Twitter. If you’re an avid Twitter user, you have may have noticed John Mayer’s name as one of the trending topics today. Mayer, a musician who has been notorious for being some sort of womanizer and having dated celebrities such as Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston, has been a favorite subject for the tabloids over the past year or so. Although his latest album, Battle Studies, shot up to #1 because of his vehement argument on how his music should speak more than his personal life the media tries to cling on to, it seems that Mayer has created the most recent controversy all by himself, if not on purpose as well.

All John Mayer wants to do is prove that he’s a musician, and with his latest album, Battle Studies, he’s also on his way to becoming a certifiable chart topper. Billboard reported, that close industry sources suspect that the singer-songwriter could sell up to 300,000 copies of Battle Studies come Sunday.

John Mayer’s latest album, Battle Studies, was officially released today and he’s hoping for one thing to come out of it: He wants the world to know that he is a musician above all things said about him in some silly tabloids.
John Mayer first broke onto the scene with is album, Room For Squares, which featured fan favorites such as “No Such Thing” and “Your Body Is A Wonderland.” He followed up with two more successful albums, Heavier Things and Continuum. However, his albums weren’t the only factors that put him in the spotlight leading up to today’s release.

While it has long been rumored, a CBS spokeswoman confirmed yesterday that the network was indeed proceeding with plans to produce a talk show hosted by John Mayer. CBS did not release any other details about the show, which is sure to be one of the worst in the history of television, rivaled in talk show history only by the train wreck that was The Magic Hour.
