In addition to lining up a slew of European festival dates, Them Crooked Vultures (featuring Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, and the Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl in a mindblowing lineup that makes ‘ah, it’s pretty good’ music) have set aside a date in their harried schedule to perform an act of musical charity.

It turns out our little hunch about the supergroup, Them Crooked Vultures, was right on! The super rock group formed by Foo Fighters‘ Dave Grohl, Led Zeppelin‘s John Paul Jones, and Queens of the Stone Age‘s Josh Homme unveiled themselves at the Lollapalooza‘s after-show and fans were not disappointed!
After a hot and sticky then wet and rainy three-day festival, everyone was psyched to catch the first Them Crooked Vultures show in history. Rumors were flying around and tickets were bought (no scalper would accept less than $2,000 according to Stereogum) and the anticipation for speculation to become reality seemed to give everyone in attendance an extreme high that night.

After numerous online speculations about Foo Fighters‘ Dave Grohl, Led Zeppelin‘s John Paul Jones, and Queens of the Stone Age‘s Josh Homme forming a supergroup, it turns out that the rumors are ACTUALLY true! The three musicians collectively call themselves Them Crooked Vultures and apparently, they’ve been working on a studio album for three years.
If you’re happy with that mere tidbit, then you’ll be stoked to hear that Them Crooked Vultures have potentially been booked to play Lollapalooza‘s aftershow! Perhaps this also will soothe fans of the Beastie Boys and those not-much-fans of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The band name wasn’t officially announced but the sign above with the three symbols each representing 1/3 of the supergroup was posted.

Must be all about the supergroup these days. Word is that Dave Grohl is now recording with Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme and, oh yes, Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones.
Antiquiet.com first had word of the rock trio currently inhabiting a Los Angeles recording studio, working on a full-length album. According to the website, Grohl had the idea for the project way back in ’05, as evidenced by what he said in an interview with Mojo magazine:

If you were at a concert in L.A., and you spotted four beautiful women at the bar, each of them with a full handlebar Yosemite Sam moustache and a pair of aviators, would that seem odd to you? Under normal circumstances, you might begin to question your current level of inebriation. But at the Eagles of Death Metal show at the Henry Fonda on Feb. 4, it was perfectly normal to spot clusters of guys and gals wearing realistic stick-on moustaches in tribute to Eagles frontman Jesse “Boots Electric” Hughes (above).
Boots Electric and the rest of the Eagles, with the help of Queens of the Stone Age drummer Joey “The Sexy-Mexy” Castillo, shook the stage with an hour and a half set that sampled heavily from the band’s second album, “Death By Sexy,” which, based on throngs of dancing fan, was a crowd favorite.
