As we reported earlier this month, The Strokes’ first album in five years is set to be released on March 28th. The album, called Angles, features a “heavy-duty makeover” of the New York band’s songwriting dynamic, according to SPIN, as the band has switched from a Julian Casablancas dictatorial state to a more democratic songwriting group:

Having two musical powerhouses headlining the first day of Austin City Limits is no small feat. New York rockers The Strokes took the stage in tandem with jam-band aficionados Phish at opposite ends of Zilker Park Friday night. And it turned into an unintentional battle of the bands, that had one stand out and obvious winner…

Spinner notes today that Strokes frontman and newfound solo artist Julian Casablancas, when not continuing to capably ape Lou Reed and late ‘70s New York City rock ‘n’ roll, has yet another rock dream to conquer—he wants to write the television theme for the New York baseball team, the Mets.

When Julian Casablancas came to LA to try out some of his new matieral and put on a residency, we welcomed him with open arms and ears. However, many things didn’t go according to plan. He’s also got his own residency going on downtown LA at the Downtown Palace Theatre. Now, we hear a random but fun rumor (via P4k) about Casablancas bringing Saturday Night Live‘s popular “Christmas Song” back to life on a 7″.
