Justin Timberlake is set to return to his musical ways, but not in the way you may think. No, he won’t be releasing a new record any time soon, but will be scoring the soundtrack to a new film titled The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.
Well, folks, our long national nightmare is finally over. No, I’m not talking about such trivial, trifling matters as an economic collapse, military quagmires, or Justin Bieber knocking people up—I’m talking about the fallout from Janet Jackson exposing portions of her breast on national TV during the Super Bowl. God, I can hardly type the words, I’m still so haunted by the experience.
Well, despite seemingly dedicating himself to the world of acting with excellent films like The Social Network and horrible, horrible Hollywood trash like Friends with Benefits, Justin Timberlake made a surprise return to music last night, finally giving in to the dreams and wishes of all women of the world who were 12-15 years old within the window of 2000 to 2002.
I guess because he played a guy that helped to relaunch Facebook on a national scale in The Social Network, it was announced yesterday that Justin Timberlake became a minority shareholder in the $35 million buyout of the struggling MySpace.
Justin Timberlake was at the top of the game when he branched out into a solo career. Shaving that curly hair may have had something to do with it, but his talent and sex appeal really shined on his two highly successful albums, Justified and FutureSex/LoveSounds. However the latter was released four years ago and Timberlake hasn’t even hinted at any more solo material coming our way.
Instead, he’s been spending his time out of the spotlight by mentoring Dutch YouTube sensation, Esmeé Denters, and appearing on numerous collaborations. By now, most people also know that the acting bug has bitten him hard and it’s where his focus is now. Props to the pop star for branching out yet again, but it seems like all that musical talent is going to waste. So what did he do on Jimmy Fallon last night that has gotten his fans all in a tizzy? He sang. He danced. It’s just that none of the material was his.
There’s been a lot of hushed whispers concerning who the replacement for Simon Cowell will be on American Idol. The judging table is now uneven with only Kara DioGuardi, Ellen DeGeneres and Randy Jackson waiting for the fourth voice in the TV show. There’s been rumors of Jazz crooner, Harry Connick Jr., and Roots rocker, Chris Issak, so far. Who’s the the latest to be thrown into this frenzy now that the deadline (in September) for a new judge is coming up?

Yesterday, The Lonely Island released Incredibad, a compilation of all these great digital shorts and more. It may be the greatest comedy CD since Flight of the Conchords’ self-titled album.
