That crazy Kanye West – he’s always up to something. The hip-hop star announced via his entertaining Twitter feed plans for G.O.O.D. Fridays, which equals a new song released every Friday until Christmas.
“I know yall need the music so I’m dropping 1 new song every weekend until Xmas,” Tweeted West, clearly already in the gift-giving spirit. “It may be my song it may be a new Jay [Z] song etc…”

Kanye West is all about being epic. He won’t stand for anything less. That ego of his cannot be bruised and he does all he can to pamper it. So when he finally released his video for “Power,” the first single off of his upcoming album, (formerly titled Good Ass Job and possibly now titled Dark Twisted Fantasy), we were expecting him to go overboard. He did exactly that, but he didn’t make a regular video. Instead, it was more of a moving painting with still images such as Michaelangelo-inspired figures to angels and swords added into view.
Well, Mr. West. It looks like your grandiosity has been watered down, but not actually so much with water. It’s been dulled down to the average frat boy anthem with an emphasis on alcohol. In a spoof by Freddy Wong, “Power” turns into “Power Hour.” Lyrics are centered around keg stands and beer pong with the images changing accordingly as well. Watch the spoof below!

Kanye West will always be in the news. Even with all the hoopla that went down with his obnoxious Taylor Swift interruption, he and his ego had no problem climbing back up the charts and into the headlines. Proving he’s a better marketing strategist than M.I.A., the unveiling of each new song off of the upcoming album has already gotten generally positive reviews.
We may have been bombarded by his excessive updates since he has decided to take over Twitter. However, each step from an impromptu performance at the Facebook and Twitter headquarters to releasing a fresh cut with Beyoncé and Charlie Wilson to debuting yet another new song last night with John Legend and company has only boosted his presence online. Oh yeah, and that Bon Iver collab everyone has been talking about? It’s been confirmed.

Because his arrogant and, more often than not, misguided public displays of hyper-ego (or, as he calls it, “talking”) don’t hit us fast enough, Kanye West has finally taken to Twitter, a site that allows his insipid megalomania to take shape in 140-character bursts. And, according to MTV, West made the move because, quite simply, traditional journalism cannot capture how funny he is:

West is known for lavish, grand, fancy debuts. He’s got to back that ego up with some wow factor when he goes live. For instance, he premiered 808s and Hearbtreak’s “Love Lockdown” at the MTV Movie Awards in a style only he could pull it off in. He’s coming out with a new album, which was titled Good Ass Job – until now. The rapper recently and officially joined Twitter and announced that he’s nixed the name and is currently “bouncing a couple of titles around now.”
So we don’t know the album name anymore but we do know this. Kanye took it down a notch this time around when he premiered some of the new material live for the first time. There weren’t any flashing lights. It wasn’t a live broadcast. It was very intimate… and it was at the Facebook office?

Last night’s BET Awards was filled with a ton of comeback performances which always make for a more exciting award show, even if the host is the lovely Queen Latifah. We must say even with all the unnecessary hoopla that was surrounding Justin Beiber this season, they booked some pretty great artists to show us what they got right now.
Kanye West triumphantly opened the show up with his new track, “Power,” which had him standing on top of a ridiculously tall mountain in the beginning. He’s always overcompensating for something but hey, at least, he didn’t grab any mics from teenagers onstage this time. (Although… it would have been fun to watch him make Justin Beiber and all his Beliebers cry.)

I’m just going to say what everyone else is thinking, but won’t say for fear of hurting the feelings of a country-singing-blonde 80s baby — Kanye West is the man. There’s no doubt that he’s the lord of douche baggery town, but for crying out loud, he’s the Lady Gaga of hip hop, there’s no doubt about it.
After expectantly shockingly canceling the Fame Kills concert with Lady Gaga late last year, some of us thought that West was slowly quitting his day job. Alas, the 21st century king of hip hop is back. A new single has leaked unto the internet, set for release on June 8th. The title, Power. Needless to say, Power is a perfect fit for the actual song. Listen to the single, and judge it yourself… Continue Reading

Politicians may be fighting about Arizona’s fairly new immigration bill (SB1070) in their fancy ties for the cameras but most of us both in and outside of the state fear for the people there who are just trying to live a normal life there. We aren’t the only ones who are concerned.
Although they may be rock stars now, musicians such as Rage Against The Machine, Massive Attack and Kanye West have come together to form an anti-Arizona artist coalition because they too still have some compassion as human beings (even Kanye). According to our buddies over at Consequence of Sound, they are calling themselves The Sound Strike. See who else is involved after the jump.

Even if you don’t watch MTV, you know that Diggy Simmons is a relative of either Rev Run of Run-D.M.C. or his brother Russell Simmons. Diggy is specifically Run’s 15 year-old-son who may just be known to the world as one of those wacky little kids on the show, Run’s House. However, it looks and sounds like the rap royalty legacy may just continue with Diggy as he’s now signed to Atlantic Records and even caught the attention of Kanye West – not for his family tree – but for his musical talent.
